So sorry you had to experience such rude behavior. I too have had the same thing happen, many times. Target and Costco seem to be favorite shunning territory. Some time ago I decided to teach them how to treat me. As soon as I see an old 'friend' I smile Big and go straight toward them with a nice greeting. Keep it short and sweet, hello and good to see you. A few times the conversation turned into a Q+A of religion and such so I made a plan to NOT go there again. These people were our closest friends but circumstances change and we have moved on. Personally I still care about these people and I refuse to treat them the way they would treat me. It was really scary at first but knowing this was going to happen again, I prepared myself. Sort of a script and learning how to lead the conversation. Years of KMS training not gone to waste. I have no interest in revenge but the old saying 'living well it the best revenge' sure has it's merits. I let them know I'm busy and living life to the fullest. Slip in something about my new hobbies and interests and then 'gotta run.....peace be with you'

You are speaking my language now. I love me gin. Something about those botanical herbs. I am a Gardener so Hendricks with a bigO cucumber slice is wonderful. And I take my Blue Sapphire extra dirty with olive juice, Shaken hard! And WOW, I thought I was all alone out here and in love with peat. Every time I buy Laphroaig the salesperson furrows his brow and wrinkles his nose, ewww. I love that dirty peat taste, crave it. Again must be the gardener in me.

The most interesting movie I've seen in ages...
by sweetstuff ini just watched a movie, that although i thought might be a lemon in the beginning turned out to be one of the most interesting movies i've ever seen.
it's called a man from earth, which focuses around a 14,000 year old man divulging to his university co-workers/friends, at his goodbye party, that he is in fact, 14,000 years old.
alot of religious debate in the movie and fascinating conversation.

Sweetstuff, do you know what year the movie was made. I got it on Netflix....btw: Netflix is the best thing since sliced bread. Only wish I would have thought to market that idea. They have 50,000 movies to choose from. I love old movies and old British TV, they have it all. Another great OLD movie is Life Boat. Hitchcock and a wonderful cast.

I watched it just a few weeks ago. Surely not for everyone but if you like a film that makes you think it's a good one. Kind of Forrest Gump-ish, in that he conveniently had a part in all the great moments in history. Very well done, no special effects, just a interesting premise. I don't think it is a spoiler to say the entire story takes place in one room....good dialogue carries the movie.

I went to see Ringo and His All Star Band last week, outside on the lawn type venue. There was a smoking area with picnic tables,it was packed full. Everybody EVERYBODY, men and women were smoking cigars. I wanted to join em sooo bad. Alas, with the hubby and he does not partake. Our friend the yacht builder agrees about Cuban's, not consistent. Like you said, good to know, now we won't worry about missing out.

We LOVE musicals.....my husband - not gay - can sing every Oklahoma song start to finish. We have Sound of Music sing-a-longs. My DIL is a Karaoke maniac and does Phantom, Singing in the Rain, Pajama Game, all the good ol musicals. Across the Universe was very good. All that Beatle music. We are big Pink Floyd fans so I must check out Chess, never heard of it. We did see Roger Waters in concert, amazing.

Hello Darling, Congratulations on almost 10yrs of bliss. My love and I have been married for almost 27yrs and I still get goose bumps when he walk into a room. Isn't Love Grand. So an Anniversary Trip is in the works....hum.....lets see. As a mother of 4, I would have to say a city trip is not the best idea, too sophisticated, IMO. I would have to go with Hawaii. Very casual and Hang-a-loose. The Caribbean is fabulous but it is 3rd world and with little guys, I like to know all the doctors speak English*. Hawaii with wee ones would be wonderful. You do not need much in the way of clothing. Just swim suits and lots of SPF 50 for those copper heads. Hours at the beach, snorkeling with sea turtles and tropical fish. If you get a condo, you can cook meals of fresh fish and tropical fruits. You know they have like 10 different kinds of bananas. There are boat rides and volcano's, bicycling and kayaking. On Oahu there is North Shore and I think Sept is a good time to see the Big Waves and Surfing. On Maui, go to Hana to the Seven Sacred Ponds and black sand beaches. For me, swimming with the turtles was magical. Oh my, I should be working on a Hawaii plan myself. We were there 3yrs ago for my in laws 50th anniversary. We took a week cruise around the islands and then a week on Maui....what a wonderful trip. I Highly Recommend Hawaii.....can't wait for our next trip. This earth holds many wonders. May you and your loves explore them together. Peace and Love be with you always your friend Tinker *in Mexico with 16yr old son, he cut his knee. took 6hr to find a doctor for stitches.

I am drinking 7G's at this moment. A scotch made of 7 different grains. From a very small producer, private label. I only wish everybody could have a taste of this magnificent golden liquor. I know the distiller, very close personal friend. Ask me no questions, I can say no more.

"Sprouting" ... Does anyone here do this?
by RubaDub ini didn't want to hijack the "how to save money" thread, but just wondered if anyone else here does his/her own sprouting (making sprouts from beans or seeds).. if you buy sprouts in the supermarket, they can very expensive, expecially if you like to mix 2 or 3 types within a salad.
additionally, if you don't have easy access to an asian market, the long white bean sprouts can be expensive.
locally here in miami, we pay about $2 for just a 12 ounce package.. i started sprouting my own things several years ago, not so much to save money, but more to have a fresh supply of sprouts and not have to go to the store as often.

Oooo, I'm a spaghetti squash fan too. I grew it last year and still have a couple, good keepers. I have sprouted seeds, yummy, my kids loved them on sandwich's. I kind of forgot about them, thanks for the reminder. I have also been making my own yogurt....talk about a money saver. I was spending .89 for ea little cup. Now I make a qt for $1.99. And no preservatives, no sugar, all fresh and natural.
