  HOW MUCH TIME SPENT ON JWD

  about how many hours per day or night do you spend on this forum?

  i spend about 2-3 hrs per night actively participating and browse throughout the day.. my boss allows me to do this because i 'm very good at multi-tasking.

  he thinks i'm the greatest thing since grits and gravy.. snowbird.

  So I attended the District Convention today.

  this is my first dc with the blinders removed.

  it seemed strange for some reason now, maybe my view of the org now is why.

  today was super boring this time for me since i wasn't ignorant of the crap anymore, but i was suprised, that the "faithful and discreet slave" was hardly mentioned throughout the day.

  I have better uses for my vacation days than wasting one on a Friday at the convention...for example, I used mine all on actual vacations (two) this year!

  I do miss my wife on the convention/assembly weekends. She's gone all day. I end up spending the day alone. I get to sleep in, and I have the whole place to myself...lying around in my pj's watching tv, enjoying a beer...no projects or honey-do list to work on. I suppose I could go with her and endure the propaganda and brainwashing session...not to mention run into people I don't ever want to see again...and endure many, many akward questions. Hmm...on second thought, I don't miss my wife all that much after all, I guess.

  Thanks for the info on the convention...the one I'm not planning on attending but nevertheless am curious about.

  How Would You Approach a JW "studying" in Public Transportation?

  i get to the office by train.

  recently, when i left the train at my destination station i noticed a jw, sitting there, obviously "studying" the "revelation"-book for the night's cbs.

  it was too late for my, but i was thinking about saying something like "don't you get it at the third time that this is bullshit?

  LOL...what fun that would be to actually try that out. A witness studying in public like that sounds too much like the Pharisees who would pray in public so others could see how holy they were. They deserve whatever negativity they might get, imo.

  Slightly off-topic reply:

  I raised the question to my wife what she thought about the 70 plus revisions to the book, and she basically glossed over the issue. It's sad sometimes when things like this happen, but I still hold out hope that she'll see the real truth and leave the organization.

  Sometimes I feel like Darth Vader must have felt when he was offering Luke to join him and rule the galaxy as father and son...Luke was so brainwashed. And then he went and jumped off that ledge...what a bummer for Vader. The dark side is way more fun.

  Would you EVENTUALLY be happy in a JW dominated new system?

  many here say that they wouldn't want to live in a world dominated by jw's.

  i understand.. i know that i wasn't always happy under their rules and way of living.

  i don't like going to meetings, especially 5 a week.

  In the "new system" there wouldn't be any door-to-door preaching work. Maybe meetings to attend. There is supposed to be an education system for resurrected ones who don't know "the truth." But...NO DOOR-TO-DOOR work...so...

  these are just a few: how about this one, brothers the time left is reduced", do not take liberties with the sisters", charley calls", brothers and sister do not mark on the sides of your bibles", do you have secret sins", do not be saving seats", you will not be used if you wear a beard," parents are your children setting with you", are you buying out the oppertune time for your selfs", only use the motels the society wants you to use", and on and on like cults do.

  i read somewhere on the pbs site that someone (can't remember who) said there could be millions of ex-jws.

  is there any possible way to confirm just how many of us there are?

  Reading this thread, I had a surprisingly morbid thought:

  I'm just one more body they'll have to clean up after Armaggedon, so the more work they have to do, the better. Of course, the only reason I thought that was because it isn't going to be true.

  It's sad that I used to think and be around others who used to think in terms of who is or isn't gonna survive the big A. Sad sad sad. So much for not being judgmental, eh?

  I like the idea of the 3 to 1 mix...18 million exjws...vs 6 million jws. We should all gang up on them.

  JW's have one of the highest turnovers of any religion.

  Mmmm...turn overs. I like apple turn overs, myself. Put a little cream cheese on top...yummy

  I actually have a copy of the book. He makes a compelling argument for the NWT, but also there are a few things he points out about it that aren't so great, too. It's a good read.
