I wish it were that easy. It would be worth a visit to the hall to infect them.

The contagion is spreading - lots of people quietly leaving JWs
by truthseeker infrom reading reports on jwd it seems that many are in the process of quietly leaving the watchtower organization.. it's almost become disease like - and spreading rapidly, even acutely in lands where access to information is greater.. people who i've known for years have suddenly disappeared - it reads like a stephen king novel.. what have you noticed?.

The Friends Ain't So Friendly
by StAnn ini've been thinking.
a lot of posts i read here say things about how the jws are all victims; how people feel so sorry for them; how people believe that the jws they know are really good people who are trapped in a lie.
then i read a lot of other posts about the cruel things the jws do, like shunning, ignoring df'd people on the side of the road with a flat tire, refusing to be charitable to their fellow humans, delighting at the impending deaths of millions of people, and blaming all of their coldness and heartlessness on the fact that they're just following orders from the gb.

To StAnn and Jamie,
Hello fellow Ohioans! I hail from Western Ohio (near Dayton).
Now...back to the topic:
My on topic post has to do with group mentality. They shun as a group, and they agree to look down on "worldly" people. As individuals, things vary widely from person to person, once you get them alone. I know a lot of genuine, albeit mislead, friends and also a fair share of hypocrits who are just in it for status or power or being the center of attention. So, if I must make a generalization here, witnesses aren't very different from other groups of people.

If they get away with their posing half naked, and wrapping themselves in flags, playing in a highly competetive sport, and being generally bad examples for witnesses, I wouldn't be surprised if that is a factor of how big their financial contributions to the WT are. Shucks...I know it's speculation, but so what. :)

EMPTY KINGDOM HALL
by thebigdebate ini have heard from my father (who is an elder about 50 years old) that there is a great seperating work going on within the org.
he said that almost all of the people my age 25 to 35 have quit going to our hall (about 20 people).
i have not been to a meeting in about 1 year.

Welcome!
Well, I hope to add to the statistics because I am not going back. What got me thinking was the Watchtower's NGO status in the UN. The hypocrisy is organization-wide. I got to experience the true colors of some elders and some "brothers" (elders and ministerial servants) that I worked with in a brother-owned business at that time. There was a falling away of a number of young people from our congregation at the time, too. All those things and more combined, and I decided I'd had enough. I felt I was duped and that I had made a grossly uninformed decision to become a JW years ago.
To any lurker who may be studying to be a JW or maybe interested in becoming one, take a good long look past all the love-bombing and do lots of research before you make that decision to get baptized.
Attendance at my KH is down, and one of the elders I had issues with has been deleted as an elder. To that I say in Montgomery Burns fashion: "Excellent!"

If you don't hear about "the Kingdom" you won't be destroyed so why preach?
by Witness 007 inwitnesses believe in these last days, if you never spoke to a witness or heard about the kingdom, jehovah will not destroy you...you will have a second chance in the new system to study.
so why bother preaching at all....there will be time in "paradise.
" is this correct?

WTBS - The world's most prolific publisher of eisegesis material. May they reap the penalties of Revelation 18-19!! (I wonder how they interpret those verses)
I just have to say--and i'm not intending to defend the Watchtower's spin on religion nor any other for that matter--Why do people think that this verse applies to the whole bible? It is in the book of Revelations and is intended to apply to the book of Revelations only. Just because it is at the end of the bible, it is not a footnote or epilogue saying that if you add or take away from the words of the bible, you'll be screwed. It is saying if you add or take away the words of this book, referring to the book of Revelations, you'll be screwed. When John wrote the book of Revelations, it wasn't part of what we know today as the bible. It was canonized later. Therefore, he wrote that verse to apply to what he had written and not to the entire collection of books and letters that make up our modern day bible. I have felt the need to clarify this whenever it comes up ever since my mother tried teaching me the erroneous interpretation when I was a child.
Some people take this stuff too seriously, so in advance, I do not mean to offend or upset anyone who may think I'm being irreverent here, but I argue the above point with the same level of interest that I would argue a point of controversy in a work of fiction like those of The Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. If anyone wants to believe another interpretation differing from mine, that is their right.
Perhaps I shall start a thread about this later.

I bet all the older ones were impressed. You were sitting there nodding your head to the music and looking like you were really into the program.
Sister Older to Brother Older: "Just look at how that young brother over there is really taking this part on Zephaniah in!"
