Can we get to know each other now?

i've picked up a little about each of us on the db, but we're a reclusive little group, aren't we?.

well, my picture won't be going up any time soon, but i'll put out some personal information and hopefully others will too.

Somewhat quiet on this board, and still labeled as a nwbe - I also hail from the PeeDee state (SC), have one toddler, and one due any minute by my wife of seven years (the same one that I got whacked 4). I have two dogs, three cats (1 is AWOL right now), and was born in the Truth. I currently get my mail in New England.

Currently, my lament is my mother's inability to put the @#* that NY tells them to do behind her and just unconditionally love her grands. I have been listening to many excuses as to why she cannot come see her new grand enter the world ("no money, busy at home, kids need watering, the sky is falling, blah blah blah").

I enjoy playing with my son, remodeling my home, anything to do with sports, and saying my hi to my wfe when our paths cross on the stairs. I presently work with the night owls, so I peruse this while the rest of you are snoring softly. Keep up the good work in assisting those that have been wronged by the cult that we too were once trapped within.

AM I NORMAL?

i have been meeting-free for a year now, (although i did attend the last memorial mainly out of curiosity).

i have learned enough now, since leaving "the truth" to know that i'm never going back.

but i was wondering how long it takes to get all of the shit out of your head?

If you take anything away from the whole life-altering experience that was served up to us in the JW: do not do to your kids what was done to you. The whole "compressed spring" speech that was run into the ground that was actually being done by the society themselves (see recent events on NBC that are eating up at their control) - is not what you should do with your offspring.

Let 'em be free. And hope that when they b/c curious about the JW, they look, laugh, and walk away.

Bringing reproach on the organization..

hey, i got a question... the jw's won't even let the men have beards for 'fear' that the 'image' will scare some of the people while going door-to-door (or at least that was the reason i was given why beards are bad)... why is it that they are being hypocritical (i know, hard to believe they are hypocrits huh?

) and allowing even potential child molesters from going door-to-door?

after all, if they don't want to stumble anyone with a beard, why would they allow someone to be stumbled with an accusation of child molestation hanging around them?

Why do they not do Bdays/Xmas/etc or ....try and avoid the fun things in life (the ones we have all found after waking up outside)??? Why - to stand out, be different and as much as possible.

Another way they trap everyone inside - we are so different - we must be chosen to be the one group that ....yadda yadda yadda.

BTW - my beard/goatee graced my face pretty darn quick after I was bamboozled outta there. My wife does not recognize me w/o in old pics now.

Mother---Again

my mother called me again to talk about dateline and the fall out at the cong.

she said the elder (or guy giving the talk-i am not sure if it was book study or a meeting) read a letter from the society saying: .

"it is all apostates who are doing this".

Isn't it convenient that the society has that built-in response to criticism? Above any law - except when it is against them - and then it is persecution! Must be, we do no wrong. Esp when, missing two witnesses to this heinous act, will put a child together with the accused to work it out. Someone making policy went out and is going to earn their psyche degree courteous of Sally Struthers.

Do your parents still talk to you?

just curious if your parents still have contact with you after you have been df'd/da'd.

mine have stood by w/strong convictions not to have contact w/me.

they have to have some being that i have kids that they want to see (but that is very minimal).

They avoided me like grim death until I made them grandparents. And then, they b/c all nice in a fake way to try and get to him. It was such a shame - I was exceptionally close to my mother and I (still)miss her horribly - as does she. My wife parents make up for it somewhat - but tis not the same.

To My Mother

at about 6:30 this evening my mother passed away.. .

the best mother and the best wife anybody could ever be blessed with.

she was not only my mother, she was my friend.

Dissociated family excluded from funeral services

apparently, disassociated relatives are not allowed to be in the procession lines at kingdom hall services.

they can attend but they cannot be with their relatives to receive condolenses.

this happened recently to someone whose aunt had passed away.

A little background: I was an only child, as was my cousin when he took his own life (we were considered as brothers - we were very close).
I crossed the country to be there - and was asked to leave at various times (like when they prayed together, ate, condemned what he did, etc.). Very difficult for my wife to comprehend as I pointed out to her everyone that I had grown up with, and how we watched them look at me, display their acknowledgment w/their eyes, and turn away. They relented at the funeral (which was not at a KH) and I sat with his mother.
The next year, when my grandfather died my mother called and after informing me how he passed hinted that I should send something nice - since I probably won't be coming. When I told her I was sending my grandmother flowers, she felt relieved - not at my offer, but that she would not have to work around me being there.
What I will say, is that it did make me think about how I and my immediate family views unconditional love (esp. w/your family), and how the WTS yaks about it, but would not know what it was if it "ran over them with a truck".
