Hi BW, (((((((((BW)))))))))
What a truely inspiring account you had.
Isn't it great when you can get back to basics and find your inner self.
Being in a place that you can really feel settled in can make all the difference on how you see things.
I hope things are working out for you.

Is it just because i was raised a JW?
by helncon inyesterday (sunday) we went to our daughters church for family service as they have these at the end of each term for the kids club (sunday school) and if you don't know about my beliefs that i don't have any and i am one not wanting to have anything to do with any religion.. anyway there are a few things that caught my attention during this service as i normally tune out but they were talking about how jesus was telling a parragul (sp?
) about sowing the seeds and then it all came flooding back of the memories about how the jw used this, and you know it was strange as this church was saying things almost identical to what the jw would say.. this is not what i was wanting to mention but i thought this was interesting.. so after all the service they have a morning tea for everyone afterward and i got talking to the minister/father/pastor (don't know what the head person called) wife and the subject come about christmas and i told her that this was not as important as when jesus died and that he wasn't even born on 25th december she was taken back that he was not born on this day as i told her he was born earlier in the year and i explained how this is the reason, she was gob smacked!.
i thought this was common knowledge so i wonder if she will go back to her husband and ask questions if this is true.. so i ask the question is it common knowledge that jesus was not born on this day and it is a pagan holiday or is it a jw thing.

You may have a lot of resentment, etc. that you need to process and heal from.
I just feel that i never had a choice in what i wanted to be but then again i did have a choice in being baptised as a JW but this was for different reasons other than wanting to be a JW and i truely never believed.
You also need to be careful of how you answer your daughter's questions regarding religious beliefs of the church she currently attends. Are you giving her a uniquely JW perspective? What you may understand as "a matter of fact" may be just what the JWs taught you, and not how it really happened or "should be".
I answer her questions in an everyday veiw not as an JW opinion i can think outside the square.
I believe that Jesus's life was for a purpose other than just dieing for us what he taught and his life actually meant something for ALL of us.
He has great teachings.

Yes the JW mindset is very hard to break. Even though i have been out for over 10 years.
I think this church is Anglican. Forgive me for not really caring on what it is i have no real care for any religion.
The first time i ever went to antother church for a service was back in December last year and i went with a hang over but i just did it for my daughter. But it was enough for me not even wanting to be there i remember that half way through the service i almost started crying for the turmoil that it was causing, i promised myself that it would not happen again but i almost did again on sunday it was hard.
Like i said i believe that my daughter needs to have some kind of religion in her life and she enjoys it i can answer any of her questions that she may have and i know that she would love us to be there every sunday but its too much i may even come around and start going but i know its just not for me i have no inclination of religion.
I just know i am never going back to the JW.

Broken Heart
by jillbedford inmy almost 17 year old daughter left to stay with her dad last thursday.
this is the second time she has left due to my strict rules, like 10p school day curfue, get to school on time, keep your grades above a c. she has not kept to my rules, so as a consequence i told her this last wednesday night she has lost driving priviledges of the car i gave her on her 16th birthday.
she said she was leaving to live with her dad.

I was originally from the Hunter Valley.
But thankfully i had left the JW in the early 90's so i never had the pleasure to have any contact with them.
They sound like a very mixed up people.
Might have to ask my brother if he knew of them.

I remember at the DC in Sydney they would lots of different food.
When i was about 15/16 i helped out in the hot chip section i loved that i made some great friends.
I also remember one of the last DC the spaghtti bolagnaise.
At the CA at cessnock i remember the Hot doghnuts yum.
But other than that i don't ever really remember the food.
Oh the other thing i remember is that you had to get JW dolloars they were a strip of paper money in $1 and you had to buy these in advance to the Assmlies but if you had any left over you couldn't exchang them back. Did this happen in the US?

by helncon inwell where do i start as of the 21st of april 2007 i will have a step mum 2 step sisters and a step brother, and i think even a few step neices and nephews.. i will only ever see them officially on this wonderful happy one day that my dad gets married.
oh great joy !
other than this time i will never have anything to do with them.. now when i got the phone call to say that this wonderful event was happening it came to me that after the words that my dad had spoken to me only last week stating that he had been told by the elders that his is to limit his contact with his df children or he will be facing df himself.. when i go to this wedding i will be saying congrats to my dad and i will be sitting in the front row and will have lots to do with him as i'd say this will be last time i will ever have contact with him.

Hi Paul and Dee,
Yes it was great to finally meet in person.
Dee our daughters definatley hit it of Imogen will be senidng an email soon.
My dad basically in his phone call said he was going to leave it up to us if we want to go to the wedding but i want to just a show of support for him as i know there will probably not that many will be going and i will be down there anyway. I really want to ask him if it will be a drama for me being there but not wanting to bring the subject up.
Paul i have asked dad before what he thinks all about the JW and its what he believes in. I said when he was going through all the issuses of late is it really worth it, and he said yes as they both want a JW wedding and get married in the KH. I just told him it was his decision and that was it. I guess he has his own life beggining now and its sad that i won't be a part of it but things may change i am optomistic that he will realise that i am firstly his daughter.
