try as they might to hang their watchtower labels onto me, i just don`t seem to be the person that they think that i should be!.

i think that i`ve become far more honest than the average jw.

leaving the tower was easier for me when i stopped and contemplated what the future would hold if the jws were right after all.

everlasting life on earth under threat of death if like adam, eve the devil, the israelites in fact most of the human race, i made a mistake at any time.

to live in a world run by strict elders who have been elevated to princes seemed a worse fate than death.

I think that I`ve become far more honest than the average JW. I dont mean in obvious things like not stealing, but in my relationships. If I dont like someone I avoid their company, if I know a friend is in trouble I will back them up no matter what the problem. I don`t have to convince myself that a person is worthy of help as JW`s do. My friendship is unconditional upon a persons behaviour.

I think that my relationship with God is better since I departed dubdom. I`m not terrified of being slain by him - and contrary to witness teaching I often say: "Good afternoon Jehovah!"

I loved the line in "Fiddler on the roof" when Topol voiced his frustration with God and said: "Would it spoil some vast immortal plan if I were a wealthy man?", it was such an honest and open expression with no fear at all of Divine retribution. He was very comfortable with his God.

It makes me laugh when pro-witness posters spout "Apostate" in every other line that they write, they pretend to be such devoted people and yet have fallen prey to practising disfellowshipping, which is surely an abominable thing to the Creator.

Certainly, when it comes to Gods publicity agents, JW`s have done nothing to enhance his reputation!

those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned.

in compliance with the scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions.

Sorry, I dont mean to be condescending, its just that I`m sat here with my Bible, and I can`t seem to find a reference to Disfellowshipping / Disassociating.

Please can someone post as to where exactly I can find a reference to the terms DF`ing / DA`ing in the scriptures?

confused

i left the jw's 11 years ago and even though i never looked back i'm constantly concerned about the things i do.

for example, my wife's family is fairly devout in their faith (catholic) and therefore i occasionally have to attend their church, and i am always riddled with guilt upon entering and participating in the services.

also, every time some calamity occurs around the world i am always wondering if "this is the beginning of the end"?

I recognise the syndrome, it`s the part of your mind that still carries some imprinting that surfaces under a stressor.

The stressor was drip-fed into you via 5 weekly meetings, JW prayers and Kingdom melodies. Basically, you have been programmed to associate bad news with fulfillment of JW prophesy. The result is that your mind is giving you warning signals that something bad is about to happen to you, probably at the hand of God.

Recognising this fact is the first step, so you are on your way! I realised that I had overcome my imprinting when a JW stood on my doorstep telling me what a dreadful place this world is to live in.

I heard myself say: "THE FACT THAT THERE ARE THINGS WRONG IN THE WORLD DOESN`T MAKE YOU RIGHT!"

i wonder how many witnesses will, on march 16th.

(a) wearing a red nose to the meeting / ministry work.. (b) fastening a red nose to the grill of the family car.. (c) telling jokes for charity.. (d) rushing to the phone with their credit card details as the bbc raise millions for africa.. (e) doing anything consructively beneficial for africa at all.. (f) tut-tut at how dreadful this wicked old world has become.. please support comic relief!
