How can those doing the monitoring not be affected by what they read here?
How can anyone not be affected by the paedophilia scandal, the UN scandal, the 1975 debacle?
How do they find someone to read here and still stay a JW?
Beats me.

since i am sort of late to the party this has probably been beaten to death and if it has just kick this thread to the curb.
i was 11 years old in 1975 and i remember being scared silly the whole year.
i mean there was so much hype about it and the tension in the air was so thick it was unreal.
Those of us who were around prior to 1975 saw with our own eyes the fever pitch that was being generated by the society. This took place particularly at District conventions. The convention of 1966 was full of it before anything was put in print and we all headed home thrilled to bits.
I was there until 1972. I saw it. I heard it. They said it.

i don't know how people do it.
i've always drifted towards last orders meself.. englishman.
LOL! No mystery!
I'm talking about people's favourite time to go out for a drink!
The pubs around here normally open at 6pm and close either at 11 or midnight. Some people like to have a few bevvies as soon as the pub doors open at 6pm. They're "early doors". I enjoy a couple of pints around 9.30 or 10, about an hour before the landlord shouts "Last orders".

did stories, exaggerations and fables turn up after you left the "faith"?
Yes.
Apparently, it was said that I went to see fortune tellers and had sex with under 14's. I spent time in the nick and attended group sex sessions with other apostates.
I must confess that I did have my hair dyed blonde and also bought an aubergine suit.
Oh...platform soles too.

i have other sheep.
john 10:16 is one of those overused scriptures that seem to prove the dual destiny doctrine.
(john 10:16) 16 ?and i have other sheep, which are not of this fold; those also i must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd.
Thanks, IP_Sec!

it'll be 21 years ago since my dad died.. i remember it vividly.
i got into work to find a message to ring my mum urgently.
she told me he'd had a massive cardiac infarction and died at 9.30 that morning.
Thanks everyone, I really do appreciate it. I shall ring my Mum in a few minutes as I always do on this day.
I really was one of the luckier ones to come out of the JW's. Both my parents were very kindly people so my upbringing was very stable. The downsides were being encouraged to leave school with little education, the families inherited money being squandered so that Dad could pioneer and have to earn very little and of course the barrier between us once I had decided to quit the JW's.
I'm not complaining. I've been a lucky bugger in my life, all in all.
