Truth
by thebiggestlie ini imagine part of the draw of the jws is the fact that they claim to have all the answers and the ultimate truth.
it's true they seen to on the outside provide many "answers" to many questions but now that i know these answers aren't the absolute truth that i once thought they were my mind is now open to a whole new world of ideas and theories and explanations.
assuming that logically there is only one absolute truth in the universe (that in itself is a huge assumption but bare with me) then it is easy to get tied down and overwelmed by the shear volume of differing info and ideas available to mankind.

To accept one idea is to deny another. To claim to know the ultimate truth is to deny the infinte realm of possibilities that exist beyond that.... I wrote a three page essay on this issue for school but i just wanted to hear some other opinions on the topic. I feel like pilate at times "what is truth"....

Are you a 'Life is Over-rated' or a 'life is what you make it' type person?
by needproof ini was wondering who out there is a 'life is what you make it' type person.
i must admit that i am a 'life is over-rated' type.
i don't wish to sound negative but how can you say to a kid born in war torn sudan 'oh, get over it... life is what you make it!'.

Why no separate section for poetry?
by hamsterbait ini have seen incredible numbers of poems on this board since i came here.. the renga challenge, started by littletoe is an outstanding one at present.. there is a topic for humor, and for adult.. i think poetry is so obviously important to many on this board it should have its own topic section.. hb.

Instances of JWs causing serious harm?
by greendawn incan you recall instances where the wts seriously damaged the emotional health or generally the life of other individuals or you?
what i can recall are two young jws at the congo who had strict elder fathers and ended up suffering severe depression due to the many restrictions in their lives.
growing up as a jw in a repressive and unloving environment is not easy.

I fear my mental health is in a constant state of unbalance... periods of deep depression are normal to me. Much of this caused from feeling trapped as a JW...
