  The Public Talk yesterday was about nothing......................again!

  i try to attend some sunday meetings just to keep peace in my family .but,it is almost unbearable to listen to these public talks.yesterday,the talk was about adam and eve and how they ate the forbidden fruit.how they sinned and now we are all sinners.how they were thrown out of paradise .how the angels came down and had relations with females.that jesus died for our sins.

  only jehovah's witnesses who are faithful to the end will inherit paradise earth.the earth will be here to time indefinite.the survivors will never die after the 1000 year reign is over.. how many times have we heard this talk?

  how many more times can they pound these talks into everyone's brain?

  I can't sit thru them any longer and wonder how anybody with a brain doesn't suffer from this repetition.

  I think they must suffer, as the same old abusive, empty concepts are painfully dull.

  When we say "I'm proud of you" are we elevating ourselves above others?

  i don't mean when we as parents tell our children we're proud of them for a certain accomplishment or approved behavior; but when one adult tells another adult "i'm proud of you for (doing this or that)", possibly implying that in our opinion the approved action should have been done sooner, are we elevating ourselves above them?

  could it even be a left-handed compliment?

  as in "im proud that you've stopped beating your wife.

  i believe i grew up a good son, for 10 years i stayed in a religion that i did not agree with.

  the day my mother got cancer something died with in me.

  i didn't feel sorry for her i felt sorry for me.

  The kool aid is very diluted in this religion but the poison is still there it just takes a little longer for them to die.

  Hm. Well, anyway, but between peers, friends, etc. I've never been one to say it much but I have said it. How about you?

  I took the book with me to the meeting .. sorta like an anchor so that i didn't get sick to my stomach during the talk.

  And that's just great to hear your dad's interested in reading the book!

  its a long story that starts with panic attacks going door to door and ended with a 2 month vacation in the cornwall on.

  psych floor for two months.

  i was stalked by the elders for 3 years after i stopped going to meetings.

  yes i ended up on suicide watch..

  this was before my df-ing had been announced

  the jc said i was faking it to avoid punishment...how could they know that...they never visited me

  2 other elders in the hall did visit and assured them that there was no way i was faking it.

  1 of them told them in no uncertain terms that i was being treated unfairly unjustly unlovingly and unscripturely

  so they removed him as an elder

  fuckers

  Unbelievable, anywhere else but a cult, that is. I'm so sorry.

  after an eye-opening conversation with an old acquaintance yesterday, someone i don't know well but thought i had some clue about .

  we've all heard it said "i'm not a mind reader you know, speak up!

  Where would we be now if there was never a concept of God?

  if (for the sake of argument for those who believe in god) there was no god, and no human being who ever lived had ever come up with or even had a concept of god or a higher being.

  where do you think we as human beings would be today.

  what do you think our history would be like, and our future?

  For those out there who don't believe there is a God, how infuriating it must be to have their lives so effected by what to them is essentially just a phoeny concept!

  It is a type of ageless oppression is it not? Any thoughts anyone?

  Yes! It strikes me as an ageless oppression too, and it is somewhat infuriating!

  Even recently, and of course this is only a very tiny example, at work our supervisor counseled our office "not to be taking the Lord's name in vain."

  He's Catholic. So therefore we can't say "oh god."
