Hi, LB. Your post was written so realistically that I just wanted to make sure that you realize that the question is just an example. I personally am LEAVING the organization; not joining!

'Give me one reason I shouldn't be a JW.'
by Ephanyminitas inwhat would you say if a close friend was to come to you and say: "i've secretly been studying with jehovah's witnesses and i plan to join their organization.
i know how you feel about the witnesses, but i truly feel that they are god's chosen organization.
i don't really want to hear anything negative about the society, but out of respect for our friendship, i'll let you briefly mention one reason why i shouldn't.

Ex-Witness singles?
by Ephanyminitas inyou know, i'm somewhat shocked that there's no kind of singles area of the site.
how great would it be (for me, at least) to find a great ex-witness lady?
i guess no one is too worried about it though.

Hi, Flower. ^_^;; I'm a single student in the southern U.S. I'm a 24-year-old hoping to run into a Miss Right at some point in life, and it'd be great if she was an ex-JW too (though I'm not exactly "ex" yet). Here's my mugshot (I can't be held resonsible for any monitors that are broken as a result of seeing this photograph):
Fortunately, though, my glasses are much smaller and trendier these days! Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to hide behind my question mark again!

Defacing Watchtower materials
by Ephanyminitas inhey, folks.
just curious: did any of you ever deface your magazines?
i had a friend growing up in the congregation and, kids that we were, we'd snap up our new watchtowers and awakes and we'd draw our own captions for the pictures, usually with hilarious results.

My parents would have killed me for doing such a thing! You guys must have had truly lenient parents. Or didn't they know what you were doing?
Well, my friend's parents knew, but they were lenient in the sense that they didn't really care. They'd only say something occasionally and often for appearance's sake. We didn't dare do it with MY parents around though. My mother could've looked at us and killed us on the spot. (Perhaps the ground would've opened up and swallowed us!)
Rhett: :-D

(This would get us in trouble during the WT study!) We'd also, of course, draw moustaches and silly glasses. Boy, haven't done THAT in a while. ;-)

JW Rules That Are Just "Too Much"!
by Ephanyminitas ini'm curious: what rules have you dealt with that were just "too much" -- whether they were "official" (i.e.
in print) or not?.
i think a good, general one is r-rated movies.

Quote the Dragon of Fire:
The JWs think these harmless cartoons are bad...can you imagine the horror they'd have if they saw games like Super Smash Brothers (N64). 'Oh the killing and the violence!' And God forbid you play anything with Bowser in it....'a dragon! Satan is the dragon! Get that out of our house!'
Oh, yeah! That's rich! And Super Smash Bros. Melee has a freakin' huge character named Giga Bowser. Imagine Bowser of super-steroids! This dude would easily get the game thrown out. Not to mention Zelda and her magical powers. ("Magic?! In MY house?! Get it out!") And let's not forget the demonized Pokemon! ("Pika?" "Ji-i-igglypu-u-uf.")Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Termite, good for you! I'm glad you proved how "spiritually weak" you were!
Fire Dragon, just a note that I'd recommend against a tattoo. That seems just like the type of thing you'll regret later. Suppose, just for kicks, you decide to become a Witness again! You'll always have that reminder of "the time you lost your mind" (by "lost your mind," I mean that you went into the world, not got the tattoo).
Star, "Tom & Jerry" is a stretch, but I can kind of see the point. It's not unlike _The Simpsons's_ "Itchy & Scratchy_ -- constant, constant violence. Still, it's a stretch. And let's not forget about crossdressin', Elmer-kissin' Bugs! ;-)
