As Rev. Timothy Lovejoy might say: "Ayuh-mennnuh to-uh thah-tuh."
i am not a jw so i don't have any stories about the organization.
but i would love to hear about your reasons for leaving.

Me? I was raised in the organization by two good, Witness parents. About a year and a half ago, I started having doubts. My rationale was, "If I don't examine what apostates have to say, then how can I truly say that I know the situation? How do I know that good, solid evidence against the Society or the Bible or God does not exist?"
So I research online. And that was that. While I didn't accept everything I read right away, it opened my mind and helped me to be able to process different viewpoints. This was also the same time that I started taking anti-depressant medication, so my mind was getting clearer too.
Now I'm a freethinker-cum-agnostic/atheist. ("Zuh?!") Well, I know I'm a freethinker. Everything else is questionable. There is no place among JWs for a freethinker. Not at all.
can someone please tell me the beliefs of j w?
do they believe that jesus died on the cross and shed his blood for us?
do they believe that through jesus christ we shall be saved?
StinkyPantz put finger to key and typed:
Your kind of thinking has always amazed me. Even as a JW I always found it hard to believe that everyone who didn't think exactly as I did would not be saved. That always "sickened and saddened" me personally. What about good people that were never exposed to Christianity, such as many African or Aboriginal tribes? This was one of my problems with Jehovah. I think the generally accepted answer was that he would just "read the hearts" of those that hadn't heard the Twoof. So if he could do that, why not do it years and years ago? (Personally, I think 1975 would have been appropriate.) Why choose some arbitrary point of time. Just do it, you slow, over-patient God, you!

the article entitled "bizarre accident thought to be suicide attempt" comes from the springfield news (oregon).. http://www.springfieldnews.com be sure to scroll down.
BTW, is it against copyright laws to post the entire article here? I was going to, but I notice many do not do that, and maybe we are not supposed to? Thanks.
I don't know about copyright law (file it under Who Really Cares Anyway?), but I generally prefer a link because it saves screen space and it makes viewing said article optional. It is probably good, though, to copy and paste a couple of paragraphs that explain what it's about.
Ephanyminitas (no comments about Fire Dragon's posting of my whole article ...)
They are the Kirby vacuum of sucking ...
Kirby? The Kirby, the warp-star-ridin' puffball Kirby?
don't mean to be gripey, but would like to vent about two observations i've made lately:.
1) a mother whose child wouldn't follow her soon enough at the grocery store.
she said "okay, goodbye!
I hate it when men look at breasts. They're such swine.
Now, hold on here. I hardly think that just looking at breasts makes a man "swine." Are we -- men -- to believe that women never check us out? Now, if you're specifically talking about doing it noticeably, like during conversation, then yes, that is tacky. But I'm sorry ... if a girl has attractive female protuberances, it's darn hard not to sneak a look somehow (clandestinely, of course). Oh, like y'all don't do it too! (Just not at breasts, I would think. Of course ...)
here's a question: how many licks does it take to get to the center of a t--?.
uh ... sorry.. here's the right question: what is the society's official stance on neanderthals?
there was a recent article in "u.s. news & world report" that mentioned them; and i realized, "hey!
Thanks for replying, Elsewhere. Now ... I know that DNA research has advanced to the point that scientists can tell one species from another. So why wouldn't they be able to tell neanderthals from humans?
there is an interesting article in today's "daily cougar," which is the university of houston's daily student newspaper.
it's entitled "should elders report child abuse?
our own ephanyminitas wrote this article!
The idea to do a story on the upcoming march was suggested, and I just might do that. It certainly would give me the opportunity to say some things I didn't get to say in this article ...

Good GRIEF! I have one question:
Do you think it possible to tell how much hair a creature had and what its skin color was from just a few bones?
Isn't this possible today with DNA and whatnot?
i go by gold morning.
i read here most days.
i post sometimes.
Should be, but often isn't.
