My Wife is demanding that I stop coming to this board.
by garyneal inokay, i am in a bit of a dilemma.
since i believe in honesty between marriage mates, i have been telling my wife about this board and my participation on it.
i feel it is only right so that she won't feel like i have anything to hide.

Please take no heed to the rude ones on here. I always read your posts and its good to see the progress you're making with your wife. I'm glad you've stood your ground and you'll continue to post on here despite your wife's objections. You have shown remarkable patience and fortitude and I'm sure your efforts will be rewarded. The library trip is an excellent idea - its even a triumph that she's agreed to research with you, so good luck with that and please let us know how it goes.
As an aside, can I just say that the approach you've taken with your wife has given me an example I can use with my JW parents. I used to be scared of my dad as he got so irate every time I questioned what the WT said. Now I gently but firmly stand my ground, I don't argue with him but point out error that makes him think. He still doens't like it much but at least the seed is planted.
Thanks

They are extreme, there's no escaping that fact as Dissed has pointed out. The question now is, do the Russian authorities realise just how extreme they are? Is there an informed body of people in Russia and in the ECHR that will see through the doublespeak of the appeal and uphold the Russian ban?
God, how exciting to see this happening! Whats funny about this ban now is its not a result of a Communist government state cracking down on all religion, its a result of the JW's own doing. The Russian government have given the Witnesses some room to breathe over the last few decades which has given them time to show their true colours. Sure enough, their true colours have shown up black as pitch and the Russians have seen this and labelled them extremists.
As Besty rightly said, they're reaping what they've sown.

So Everything Was Going Good Until...
by tryingtoexit ini drew a blank on a particular question.
i basically had a talk with my parents over the weekend.
they've been jw's since the 50's and pops been an elder since 83. so i knew it was gonna be hard, but i basically told them to their face that i am no longer going to be a jw and gave a few reasons why.

I too believe that all christians will inhabit both heaven and earth and we'll be able to move betweent the two realms. Wing Commander's explanation was how it was explained to me and seems scripturally possible.

In the 70's Ray Franz lists 174 index subjects covering 114 pages of material which outlines detailed "theocratic laws" to be followed. This didn't include subheadings that goes into further details on each of the subjects covered.

Active witnesses have disfellowshipped friends on Facebook
by truthseeker ini have noticed at least two active witnesses who have disfellowshipped friends on their facebook account.
it's certainly a. middle finger to the governing body who say that we should not even say hello to such a person.. each facebook friend has to be "approved" so what does this say about the attitudes of the rank and file?.

I'm DA'd and was added as a friend to an active Witness's account. For no reason (we only conversed occassionally) I was deleted. Has there been a recent tightening up of control on this?

Matt Barrie and his wife Lorraine were 2 Witnesses from Scotland and recently disfellowshipped for apostasy. If you listen to the podcasts of Matt's shepherding calls and judicial hearings, you might get a flavour of what the Witness culture is like in Scotland.
