Our goal in life should not be to avoid pain in others or ourselves
Pain may be a fact of life John but it still hurts. You can learn from pain but you don't have to seek it out looking for the lesson.

bad experiences with C.O.s?
by startingovernow ini am still trying to recover from an experience that i had with a c.o.
reading other discussions has helped me to start getting other bad experiences into a better perspective and since the experience with the c.o.
was really the final straw i was hoping that reading that i am not alone would help me in moving on.

I'm gonna name and shame. Charlie Skurlock was our CO for a while. A man totally obsessed with field service. He and an elder gave me a shepherding call due to my son being disassociated for being gay. He implied that it might be a good idea if my son caught Aids then he'll come back into the truth. Asswipe.

Thats truly beautiful coco. A few months ago I was in pain. My mum had been diagnosed with cancer and had just undergone a very painful operation. I had been by her bedside till late and the next day I was exhausted and very stressed. I took my 8 year old to school hoping that the sisters at the school gate would show some kindness and give me a smile or even a "how's your mum?" (my mum's a witness) instead of the cruel shunning. On the contrary, one former close "friend" literally turned her back on me as I walked passed her. I was devasted and cried and cried. That small action hurt so much I felt physically sick.
I didn't want to be on my own so I headed into town. I bought a coffee but all the tables in the cafe were full so I stood up and waited with my tray. One couple at a table saw me standing and asked me to join them. I didn't know them but they shared their table with me. They were from Scotland and were visiting the area. We had a lovely chat and they made me laugh.
I will never forget their kindness that day. It was a small thing, but to me it meant absolutely everything. They will never know how important that act was to me, and I will never forget it.
They stopped my heart breaking.

what angers you about the truth
by stillajwexelder inthis angers me .
elders who will not make shepherding calls to comfort their brothers and sisters but as soon as that brother or sister puts one little foot out of line those same f-----g (sorry about the language but it really angers me ) elders can not move fast enough to form a judicial committee and then are so unmerciful - it makes me want to vomit literally

What angers me is that after a full year of leaving, I'm still angry. Why does it take so long to move on?

this is just playing with statistics again. If the requirements for aux pios drop to 35 hours, then many more publishers might just think they can reach that and jump on the wagon. Its nice having the label of pioneer in the congregation, people look at you admiringly. This way more publishers will feel important, more distribution for the literature, more hours at the end of the year, more congratulating themselves in the next yearbook.
A shrewd move in all.

"by their fruits"....wouldn't this mean their teachings as well???
by oompa ini urge any lurkers, or newbies, or doubter here to read...and study the proclaimers book....and read many old articles in the watchtower.

By their fruits....hmmm, doesn't that scripture directly deal with false prophets?
Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them Matt 7 v 1
Considering the "fruits" of a false prophet is false prophesy, waddya think? Does the WT get the prize?

It seems I was right all along.
by searcher inover the years i have posted many times, in many places that i was convinced there is an element working for the gb to chase posters away from ex jw sites by making life uncomfortable for them, even to get sites themselves to close down.. having seen many posters leave various sites, most of the sites give up and close down, it seems they are winning.. now this one, the premier site, is closing.. .
so sad..

I kind of agree searcher. Whilst I understand Simon's reasons for withdrawing, I think to lose this site is a serious victory for Jehovahs Witnesses. They will smugly sit in their ivory tower and say "Jehovah has smite our enemies, aren't we the best" It'll give more power to their philosophy.
I feel sorry for the newbies. So many come on here looking for comfort and reassurance that they made the right decision, a reassurance they're not likely to get in many places. There was a balance here, very few ranted and were uneven in their criticism of the WT but If someone went over the top or exaggerated, it was quickly corrected by maturer ones.
I'm gonna miss this place. It kept me informed on what the Society were up to, often before the congregations even knew, and it kept me abreast of the indoctrination my parents were receiving, helping me to counteract the watchtower before they'd even studied it at the hall. (thanks blondie)
We must replace this site. I'm no IT specialist but I understand the importance of the experience and senoirity of those that post here, and we mustn't lose them! We mustn't lose the elders and MS that post info for us, we mustn't lose the faders who keep us up to date with the latest Society spin. They're all too important. Their experience and service is a great assistance to those contemplating leaving and those who have left/thrown out who feel lost and adrift.
In this case "where shall we go" is a good, practical question. Which site/forum does Simon and the mods recommend? Is anyone willing/able to take on the responsibility Simon carried?

But the nice thing was that you were actually guaranteed a job when you got out of school.
That dates it. That may have been the case 39 years ago but not now. What use is an example like this?
Pathetic society rehash as usual.

I LOVE the Doc. I wasn't that impressed by Journey's end the first time I watched it but after catching the repeat I really got into it. Loved the acting and Donna was brilliant. It was just so sad anad poignant at the end when she had saved the universe but daren't be told how great she was. At least Rose got to keep her Doc
Fabulous! Loved the way Martha smiled at the camera when the earth was being towed. And I loved Donna's grandad. I want one like that!
So now we can work out who's gonna be the new Torchwood recruits can't we? Mickey and Martha.
Can't wait for the xmas special
