Is your phone like my apostashelf? Used to be full of bound volumes, now its got CofC, Christian Freedom, James Penton, Carl Jonsson and Steve Hassan etc. My dad bristles with indignation every time he sees it.

OMG! a horrible lie in the July WT with a jesus pic....
by oompa inbad day today...how the hey did everyone miss this??
?....or did i miss a post about it?.....i am not supposed to talk about anything jw with my hardcore jw wife...but while on the toilet takin care of biz..i was reading the lit she leaves in a basket...it was a wt..july 08, but dont know which one....once i showed it to her it disappeared...but damm the last page i think... it had a drawing of jesus and the text under it said this "jesus used the name jehovah in his prayers"....or close....and that is a fluckkin lie!...zero support for it!...so i said just freakin show me where he did...i think my pants were still down...i had already come to terms with the fact that jesus never once uttered the name jehovah ever...because what kid...esp in a serious discussion with his dad (like prayer) would ever call him by his first name???
?...she disagreed...how i dont know...but where is the evidence that jesus ever said the divine name in a prayer?!?!!??

Christmas? Love it! Not the religious side, but the family side. JW bullshit has damaged my family, so hopefully these occassions for us to spend time together and create some new happier memories will bring us closer.
As for pagan? Well, I PROMISE I won't worship the tree ok?

stick and stones may break my bones..but WORDS HURT FOREVER !
by caliber inon this site and elsewhere i have heard the expressions when hurt by words.... "grow up.. grow a thick skin ".
well it all seems easy enough to say, but we all have areas of high sensitivity.. physical, mental, emotional, social standing, education and race.
it is easy to find humor in things.

The day my father called me a satan-controlled vomit eating dog was a day I'll never forget. Or forgive.

Zagor, you're out of order mate. We're here to support each other through life's shitty times and if that means venting on here, then good, that's partly what this forum's for. Your attitude reminds me of the Watchtower which says we're not supposed to "gossip" to others about spousal problems, thereby denying many a worried and stressed brother/sister from seeking support and advice from close witnesses for fear of being labelled disloyal.
Witness 07 Hang in there buddy, you obviously love your wife and aren't about to give up on her just because she's ill. Well done for that!. But I'll go with what others have advised, get her the immediate help she needs, make a fuss if you have to, but get the help, you can't go on like this for your sake as well as hers. Take care. xx

WT backtracking fast on Book Study -High Gas Prices
by stillajwexelder inso tonight the congregation discussed the front page of the october km -the new meeting schedule.
straight away it was emphasized it was not because of high gas prices that the meetings were being reduced.
it was pointed out that in parts of the world the brothers do not have cars so it was not high gas prices.

Its a shame for the oldies though. My elderly mum and dad loved the book study. They went to a day group with a fun social night once a month. The group members would take it in turns to host the fun and food.
These older ones haven't got families in the sense of little ones to teach so whats the point of family study night for them?
My dad will use it as a good reason to watch telly for another night.
I've got mixed feelings about it all. I'm sorry that their limited social life has been further cut but I'm not sorry that there's one less indoctrination session.

If you were DFd: How did you feel at first? (for my book project)
by Awakened at Gilead ini am starting to write a book about survival/recovery for exjws or questioning jws... i hope to have an impact on the jw community.. .
in my first chapter, i discuss the negative effects of dfing and shunning.
the wts presents dfing in a positive light and indicates that jws should feel no compassion for those that have turned their back on jehovah.

I DA'd because I felt lied to and betrayed. I truly expected to be shunned but not to the extent I was and certainly not by the people closest to me.. I had been a very active and, dare I say it, popular witness for 21 years and I had lots of friends in several local congregations. I didn't expect every friend I had to shun me without exception, I honestly thought that the witnesses would see such an action wasn't necessary in my case as I wasn't doing anything immoral. How naive of me!
Their subsequent treatment of me got worse with gossipping behind my back and deliberately coming into my place of work knowing their shunning would upset me (they could have gone numerous places for their coffee, but they chose to come where I work.)
I have felt absolutely devasted by their treatment, a real disappointment in the way they've behaved. The tears have fallen so many times I've lost count. Not one of them has approached me to ask why I DA'd or to ask after the health of my witness mum who's fighting cancer.
When my mum was in hospital having the tumor removed, a sister I used to pioneer with turned her back on me as I walked down the school driveway. This totally destroyed me, Her actions that day hurt so much I couldn't breathe. Even now, 6 months on, I still feel a stabbing pain in my heart when I think of that day.
I'm now in councilling and learning to deal with the hurt and pain, learning to be stronger and not let it get to me so much. I've come to realise that the friends I cherished at the Kingdom Hall were not friends at all, but should be pitied.
I thought better of them than they deserved and the emotional cost to me has been way too high.

This Watchtower makes me really angry.
I'm regarded by my elderly witness dad as a "dog thats returned to its vomit" and been overreached by Satan, yet I'm the ONLY one that takes care of him and mum. Mum's been suffering with Cancer recently and is undergoing chemo, they're also moving house which entails alot of downsizing and getting rid of stuff. Guess who's doing alot of the donkey work for this? Thats right, the daughter who's described as a satan controlled, vomit eating dog.
Where is the congregation in all this? A big, fat nowhere.
I do all the bloody work, they get all the credit. Bastards.

Boring bookstudy book...which one was the worst?
by White Dove ini remember the old timers saying that the red babylon book was the hardest to understand.. in my memory, i'd have to say the isaiah books and daniel book were the most involved and boring.. the revelation book had gorgeous pictures in it (the writing was horribly boring), so i just looked at them, and i was 22 at the first study of it!.

Definately, totally, the two Isaiah books.
