as i sit down and type this i have realized that if i could have seen into the future and known that this post would need to be created (for my own peace of mind anyway) i know i would have never given the jws a minute of my time.
a little background: i have been a jw for 20 years and found a wonderful woman in the religion she was a pioneer when i met her, an elders girl but that did not matter to me , it was and always has been her compassion and love for people that endeared me to her and we have been happily married for almost my 20 year tenure as a jw.
we have several children one of them is a teenage boy.
How wonderful that you are giving her the support she needs! I feel for her so much but from a different perspective. I was like her parents but have now learned to love my children totally unconditionally since leaving the Org. Time and love has healed my sons so that we're now a close loving family. I'm sure the love you give your niece will also heal her too.

so im in a predicament and seeking help from a few of you willing to make a phone call tommorow to the society during office hours.
ok so im here in pineville louisiana but were going to be frozen over as of tommorow night and friday night with snow ice and sleet.
the pipes on our house rboke yesterday because we also had a storm yesterday and the pipes broke overnite so now we have a mes.

Jehovah would want you to put the needs of your family first. In fact how would you be honouring God if you neglected your home and family especially in a crisis? How would disappearing to an assembly and leaving your home in a mess like that be a good witness to your neighbours?
By staying home and dealing with your situation shows you displaying a sensible, balanced attitude. You are being a responsible homeowner, a caring family provider and good Witness.

I'm with you on this one nugget and sleepingbeauty. I feel sorry for many of them and would welcome them normally if they gave me the chance. But there are 2 or 3 that I refuse to serve. I work in the coffee shop in Marks and Spencers which is a regular meeting spot for after-field service coffee by the sisters. When certain ones are ordering, I walk out and refuse to have anything to do with them.

I hope this turns out to be bad press for the Witnesses. Its not proved but likely that the man had a grevience with someone at the KH. Lets hope the investigation ends up hanging out some dirty laundry for the local dubs.
i've seen several posts relating to the mood among longtime jws here recently.
i thought i would add to that collection and recount a discussion i recently had with my dad and a small group of folks about his age.
quick background on the group:.
I see it here in the UK too. My parents are both elderly and have regular discussions with another long-time brother and sister over coffee once a week. The gist of these discussions is that the Society are starting to be way off when it comes to shunning, education and blood and need to learn some humility. They have been reading the bible together and can see how far these doctrines have deviated from scripture.
None of them are prepared to leave the Org but they do all talk to me (da'd) and decline the meeting if there's something in the WT they don't agree with that week.
I'm thrilled that they are having these discussions but am fearful incase they get into trouble.
i have a mother in law that doesn't like me because i'm not an elder and i don't study enough.... i think worldly people have bigger problems in their marriage!
did you ever just want a "normal" family?
i don't have to celebrate christmas, but i just want people that care about and accept me for who i am!

You're not loved precisely because you're not a strong JW. Love is only extended on a very conditional basis and you aren't measuring up in their eyes. It makes no difference if you're a nice guy or not, the Society call the shots on this one.
However many worldly families would love and accept you for being a nice guy which would let you be yourself and blossom into the genuine person you should be.
Its very stressful trying to be who you're not.
a friend disassociated in order to get divorced, hoping not to get disfellowshipped.
some time later, he has a serious non-jw girlfriend whom he'll probably end up marrying.
the thing is, he didn't disassociate because he no longer believed the wt doctrines.
I've met several x JW's who are still mentally "in". They haven't bothered to do any research on the Society and are still frightened of churches/armageddon/demons/birthdays etc. In my experience these are the ones that are more likely to return regardless if they're d'fd or da'd.
i can't believe it.
probably haven't been out long enough to know they lie like this.
now i just heard it with my own ears.

so the elders are coming by for a shepherding call on tuesday.
i am not ready to "out" myself just yet.
i don't know how to act when they are there.
