I have seen this happen before:
a sister did not go regularly to the TMS and Service meeting.
the change was announced in local announcements. no one called her.
I was sick (bookstudy at my house), when she came I told her where to find the study.

the wife and i showed up with our red books and bibles at the new brother's house ready for the study, but nobody was there.. anyone else ever have this happen?.
i understand that the group is huge, us, the new guys, the conductor (a bethel reject), and three generations of dubs who live in the same house, but are three family groups too much to keep track of?

Ok, so I am in a new congregation (2 months).
The PO was giving the Bible highlights for Isaiah 34-37.
Somewhere in there he slips in the angel that killed the 187,000 men was none other than Jesus.
I sat up in my chair and said to myself, "where in the world did he get that from?"
I just checked the index and the best I could come up with is an article that suggests it could have been Jesus. Nothing definite.
has anyone else heard this before?
What evidence is there to prove such a claim??
(this is not the first time I have caught people saying odd things from the platform.)

How did you accept counsel
by KAYTEE inwas it easy to accept council from elders, i found it extremely hard, the reason being it was always laced with stupidity.. just one of the many many times i had run ins with the elders.. when discussing an important issue that had come up (usually personally), the elder said to me "getting your little green book out again", a reference to my use of the wts code of conduct book (the organisation book) trying to counsel me on the use of wts material.
how can you start from common ground when you have foolish statements said like that from so called spiritual leaders .
my dear old mum, when bringing up 4 children after the war, gave us every week a dose of cod liver oil ,her reason was we needed it.. cod liver oil is like counsel.

I followed the counsel reluctantly (The PO made threats against every priviledge I held).
The counsel given was their opinion on how a matter should be handled (the society had no stand on the matter).
then when I could take it no longer, I showed them Sept.1, 1996 Watchtower where it says Elders will not give their opinion in matters of personal choice. He held true to his threats. Even bringing in the CO against me. (Which I still can't figure out why the CO would go along with opinions rather than the F/D Slave).
My actual removal was because "I wasn't showing soundness of mind (or reasonableness) in how I was handling situations".

I have been to both pio meetings and MS/Elder meetings with the CO.
Only one really sticks out in my mind.
It was right after I had brought up some (12+) problems in our hall to the CO.
He picked 2 that he would bring up while the MS were around.
It went something like this:
CO: How would you handle a situation like this ______?
Service Overseer: Definitely, I would handle it like this ______!
CO: INTERESTING! NOW, lets look how the F/D slave says how to handle.
[SO now is 15 shades of red since he was just embarrassed in front of peers]
CO: How should we handle a situation like this ______?
[no one raises hand, scared crapless of embarrassment]
Me: The F/D slave says ________ as found in ________.
CO: Good. Lets handle it that way.
[dirty stares from PO, SO, and Sec. All who were handling situation wrong]
---- fast forward 2 years to a new CO ----
[same problems still exist]
CO and elders: Metaspy, you are not using good judgment in handling these situations in this manner.
We no longer think you should be an MS -

As lurkers, what kept you from posting? Fear? Was there a basis for it?
by What-A-Coincidence infor me it was the fear of getting 'caught'?
if that's the case, just don't give out names, places or dates.. i have been on jwd for over 2 years.
the only way 'they' can catch me is if i give out details on the forum.. so lurkers...come out and get empowered!.

I certainly have a fear of being caught. There is much to loose, especially when I have not made up my mind to leave.

What was the worst (or funniest) thing you got caught doing at a meeting?
by danfromma inor in service, or just by jws period... me, i was notorious for doodling in my literature.
when i was about 12, i got caught drawing the led zeppelin logo in my bible by the meanest elder in the hall.
my mother wouldn't let me out of the house for about 2 months!

I was 10. It was at the bookstudy. the arrangement of chairs was in a large oval. I was sitting just about the middle of one of the sides. I had locked my feet behind the bar on the front side of the chair. As the meeting progressed, I dozed off. I was out just long enough to loose my center of balance. When I felt myself tipping, I awoke and tried to center myself. However, I could not move my legs and I started to fall forward. I landed in the middle of the bookstudy face first on the floor. The brother conducting simply looked down and said "Well, somebody fell asleep." Then he continued conducting the bookstudy.

My physical brother in bethel concurred with the N.H. Knorr theory.
He said that type of cover is called "Knorr Green" by some at bethel. -

Jehovah`s Witness`s For Sale!
by OUTLAW inwbt$ liturature is a failing business..donations down..costs remain the same..at some point a decision has to be made to stop hemoraging money..wbt$ has many business interests..sometimes a corporation will sell a failing business off to another corporation..that corporation will buy the business in hope of turning it around and makeing a profit again.....do you think the wbt$ would ever put the "jehovah`s witness religion" up for sale?...outlaw

I don't think they would ever sell.
One of the elders in my old congregation showed me an old piece of correspondance he had with a bethel heavy, and it essentially said GB will consider the preaching work done if they ever run out of money. Thus they would just close up shop and consider their work done. -

Circuit Overseer Complains Of Recieving HATE MAIL!
by minimus inthe co visited my mom this week with 2 elders and told her that she must continue forgiving persons that might hurt her.
he then went on to explain that he gets "hate mail" from various witnesses when he leaves their congregations.
he chalks it up to their being discouraged but admitted it does bother him......have you ever heard of such a thing?
-

I have written a letter to the CO and told him how I believed he mishandled the situation I had brought to him. (which he all he said was - the elders must have done what they did for a reason) I suppose that could have been considered 'hate mail'. I never got in trouble, but I think my app to Bethel was denied because of that letter. the problem with the elders never did get fixed... oh well
