What would you do with a Time Machine?

for me, i would go back to the day when charles taze russell snuffed it.

i'd wait for judge rutherford to turn up at the ibsa headquarters, then run him over with a steamroller, in true buster keaton styleee!.

just finished the chapter in ray's " christian freedom " book on " misuse of disfellowshipping .

i highly recommend anyone reading it as it has numerous experiences of individuals who were mistreated so unjustly by the wt society's rigid rules - many in spite of 40, 50, or 60 yrs.

of faithful alleigance to the wt society's rules.

Having gone the "fade route" aka "quietly withdraw", I can tell you from personal experience it is not easy and it is anything but quiet. When I first stopped attending meetings I got 2 phone calls a day from different people I knew - they would all tell me how much they missed me. Which is really ironic because for the previous 3 years no one gave a crap about my life or my problems.

The elders too hounded me - telling me I was going down the wrong path, or that I had "apostate" thoughts.

Now that it has been 2.5 years since I stopped attending, I have friends that I grew up with who refuse to talk to me. All because I am "inactive". Or in some people's eyes they think I am "apostate" even though I go out of my way NOT to tell anyone why I left.

Those PR quotes are a load of bull. There is tons of pressure, nagging, and crap that the organization throws at those who try to bow out of the borg.

JWs vs. Christ's Witnesses?

i was talking to my dad today, and he asked when the jws changed their name.

i replied "in 1933 or 34, cedar point - they became the jehovah's witnesses" he said "no, when did they change to christ's witnesses?

" i had no reply.. apparently, he had a jw come to his door (from a car group of 5 doing the neighborhood).

It would be funny if it was a break off group. Perhaps she had watchtowers to show how wrong it was.

It didn't really come across to me as a line to continue the conversation, as the convo was over. It seemed like a correction that he had the wrong religion. But I have never heard of Christs witnesses

I was talking to my dad today, and he asked when the JWs changed their name. I replied "in 1933 or 34, Cedar Point - they became the Jehovah's witnesses" He said "No, when did they change to Christ's Witnesses?" I had no reply.

Apparently, he had a JW come to his door (from a car group of 5 doing the neighborhood). My dad told them "I see you are JWs, I am not interested." The lady replied "We are Christ's Witnesses" Which confused my dad because she had a Watchtower in her book bag.

I wasn't there, so I can't verify if they were JWs or if it was some new religion calling themselves Christ's witnesses. It would seem odd that they would mimic the door-to-door of JWs and the name.

Any one heard of Christ's witnesses? or was the JW just pulling BS out of her sleeve?

it's a classic sci-fi plot: you have a time machine and a snipers rifle.

do you go back in time and kill hitler?.

i can justify hitler but only because we now can see how central he was to events in europe.

If you have a time machine and a sniper rifle - go back and shoot C.T.Russel, not the GB of today.

With the origins gone, the religion dissappears.

Did You Personally Know Any JWs That Were Sexually Molested By Other JWs?

i knew of a handful (which is too many) that were molested by a jehovah's witness.

it was not typical in my experience.

what about you???.

I knew of a teenage girl who was molested by a pioneer. The guy was known in the hall for only working out in service with younger sisters. No one did anything. Her family left the JWs. The pedophile molester is still a pioneer to this day.
