This past weekend (as we all know) was the memorial for JWs.
This year marked a huge step for me.
I didn't go
Ever since my mom got baptized, I think I have gone every year.
when my mom asked if I went, I simply told her no.
I had gone over my aunt's house and didn't attend the memorial.
She gave me an earful, but I didn't find it intimidating.

What Injustices Did You Deal With From Congregation Elders ?
by flipper infirst of all i want to say at the outset , that this thread is only about elders who committed injustices.
i realize there are many ex-elders on the board here , and as a disclaimer i want to say this information is not meant to offend any of you who served in that capacity .
i think most all of you had pure , sincere motives in serving the congregations .

In regards to "prodigal son", I think it depends on the hall.
one hall I was in would do Disassociation by action, which was basically DF'ing them.
whereas another hall took the route of "don't talk about it and come to meetings and its ok" stance. -

It has been a while since I have posted here.
I thought I would post some good news. A progress report of sorts.
My new job is going great. I love the work and the people I work with.
I feel very comfortable with the job and the atmosphere of the workplace.
A great thing too, is I have gotten a lot of compliments on my work.
Yay!
I recently talked with my dad. It was a very good conversation.
I told him about me leaving the JWs. I even gave him the link to my story.
He had never heard the Zelda story, so it was an eye opener to him.
Plus, it opened the way for further discussion about things that happened in my childhood.
It seems that my mom (and brother) have deceived me on a regular basis about my dad and what happened.
He never was interested in JWs and wasn't given apostate literature.
Instead, he did his own research and found books about JWs by ex-JWs.
I have also been trying to associate more with my dad's side of the family.
I recently spent a day with my grandfather. We played cribbage and shoveled snow.
It is nice to have someone who cares. There is still a little barrier there.
But it is my fault, I have no trust. I fear trusting others still.
I have started looking for a girl friend (not Zelda).
I have had a couple potentials, but nothing has worked out.
On the whole, life has been looking up.
Thanks for your support JWD! -

Look how intricate the crown of thorns is on his head.
Let us think about the JW teaching about the cross.
What is one major reason they say it didn't happen? Too much trouble for the Romans.
Yet, weren't they the ones who gave him the crown of thorns?
that looks a hell of a lot harder to make than nailing 2 pieces of wood together. -

Did You Ever See this in Your Congregation ? Mind Control - By Hassan
by flipper inin steve hassan's book , " combatting cult mind control" it states : " a famous experiment in conformity by dr. solomon asch demonstrated that people will doubt their own perceptions if they are put in a social situation where it appears that the most confident people in the group are all giving the wrong answer to a question.
another psychologist , stanley milgram , tested people for obedience to authority and found that over 90 percent of his subjects would obey orders, even if they believed that doing so caused physical suffering to another person.
milgram wrote : " the essence of obedience consists in the fact that a person comes to view himself as the instrument for carrying out another person's wishes, and therefore no longer regards himself as responsible for his own actions .

I have seen it happen in many cases.
Almost always by elders not wanting to loose power.
one that comes to mind is an elder was "committing adultery" by JWs standards.
An MS in my old hall found out and confronted him.
The MS gave him 2 or 3 weeks to confess.
in that time, the wily elder had the MS removed for some reason (I didn't find out).
Then when the MS turned in the elder - it looked like he was out for vengeance.
The elders didn't listen to him at that time, but later the elder was caught.
Funny thing is, the MS didn't get his title back... -

This will help us understand where other's are coming from (hopefully!)
by Mincan ineveryone should take this test and post their results.. everyone has a direction to their flow of energy, a way of gathering information, a way of coming to decisions, and a way that they live their day-to-day life.
put your preferences together and you are either introverted/extroverted, sensing or intuitive, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving.
everyone will fit into one of these 16 categories you can thus create.
