"Why don't you kick in your IQ and use your brain?!!?"
I don't know If I understoodbut if and only if "kick in" means also USE (too as a nuance) somehow
My answer would be = why don't YOU kick in your BRAIN to use your IQ because you need the former to use the later ... but I'm not sure you're understand that ... Allo is there something in there? Mayday Mayday ... Mayday Mayday ... Mayday Mayday ... and each time he would talk to me Mayday Mayday ... Mayday Mayday ... Mayday Mayday ... at least 3 times before to ask Are you ready? ... are you ready? ... are you ready? -

When "friends" let you down...
by Crumpet inhave you ever been in a position where you really needed your friends - ie a relationship break down, or some other event and expected your friends to rally and support you.
only to find that those friends are nowhere to be seen or heard and when you tentatively enquire how they are in the hope for some kind response you get - "oh well you'll get over it.
" or words to that effect and by email.. i have as you can guess a reason and recent experience of my own that i'll share later, but i wondered how do you handle that?

ditto What others said on the matter in different ways and Xena's post I've just read before to post this (about don't let that change you, we are all different and we need different types of people, also giving is giving not asking/especting anything in return)
Unless someone is handicaped and need a real support (day after day), or is extremely sensitive at a specific moment to the point I feel that this is the moment to listen and to hug her/him ... I think that there is a time to just say you're big enough "take over" because I won't always be there (that's what I did for my unic son since the bigining) and guess how much I love him?) It's like saying I can feed you for a while but you will still need to know how to make or get food for yourself)
My sister came up with that comment "nobody's there when you really need them" (I know she feels morally sad). But who Am I? ... Did she even realised that I was there? ... (I fixed her eyes like to say ... can't you see?) still she just didn't realised how unfair her statement was to me. Since she didn't realised I left my comment for another day when she'll feel better (but It was interesting to acknowlegde this kind of missperception again, lots of people just do not see how much support they get and just think that they need more - which is understandable but not always possibleor even what will really help them to take over).
A friend is not an unconditional support, a friend is someone who tells you the right thing at the right moment, and a friend is still a human being with his/her own troubles, faillures and needsat that very same moment. There is only one person you can really count on "YOU".
More you cry, less most people want to hear about it (if not for you to be the subject of conversations to say I know someone bla bla bla to make them feel better about themselves ... or because they also feel alone and that's the way they compensate be with people who feel the same - like : he/she too have been there - they steam out with you - it's like a common support actually it's not a one way support - just like the JWD Board).
When I'm in depression I don't call anybody, (I'm happy when someone calls, but I might skip the subject) I take my time to take over (I've really understood that I really need to support myself at first).
Take care sweety ...

Really Bad Day Today!
by winnie ini woke up to my kids all sick, a letter in the mailbox (put there sneakily sometime early this morning) saying that we should 'return to serve jehovah and become one of the family again' (cannot understand the association of meeting attendance = being part of a family.
family is family no matter what they choose to believe.
) and to top it all off, our 10 year old dog who has been really sick past week, had to be put down a couple of hours ago.

Definition of a true christian according to the latest JW mags.
by winnie inif you read my earlier post, you know i received a card in my mailbox inviting us to 'return to jehovah and our family'.
along with this, came the latest 2 wt and awake mags (march i think).. i didn't read them, but my hubby glanced through them out of interest and came across an article with their list of what defines a true christion.. # 1 - love jehovah.
# 2 - donate to the world wide preaching work (!!!!!!!!!).

This is as far as he got before throwing them away!

(1) love J. (the abuse of use of this name is getting on my nerves) since J. is everyone/everything - I guess they miss a crutial spiritual point here ... But that's the GB antichrist job (to make sure that it won't be understandable).
I wonder at which point they put Christ/The lord (maturity/justice = contextual balance)?
They're job is to make sure that you want so much to please God (everything/everyone) but in fact peremtorily "the society" (aka WTBS) for salvation, that you forget about maturity including justice (balance) in everything/everyone (means Christ).
(it's all only my opinion of course ) -

Ridiculous teenager counselled at Assembly.
by Duncan inthe ridiculous teenager is me.
this story takes me back to 1969, when i was 15 years old.
we were attending the international assembly at wembley stadium, near london, the only time, i think, that wembley was ever used for an assembly.. if youve ever read any of the stories i posted on jwd over the years, youll know that i was never one of those kids growing up in the truth who always had doubts about it or was unhappy and miserable with the religion, just waiting for the chance to get out.
