  10 years since My Exit - The Introduction

  over the next few weeks or months, i will post an accounting of my exit process in a series of 15 short stories.

  i'm wondering if the majority here were seriously conservative squeaky clean dubs?

  i took the whole thing very seriously.

  there seems to be such a fun element here - i can't imagine everyone being those dull folk all decked out in their wt uniform with accompanying plastic expressions.. marilyn

  I was a militantly correct spawn of the Watchtower when I was a boy.

  I did not ask to be removed from school assemblies where the anthem would be played, or pledges of alliegence recited. I would attend so that I could sit down defiantly at the appropriate moment. Contrary to the experience of many on this board, this did not result in alienation from my peers, in fact it had some of the 'bad kids' thinking I was kind of cool.

  I once waited after school when I knew there was a staff meeting taking place, knocked on the door and bombed the meeting with an offer of the "Truth book". I was surely kickin' butt for Jehovah.

  About the time I turned thirteen, I was given the #5 talk on the subject of Apocrypha. (We had a VERY small congregation, my parents had moved to where the need was great, as defined by the WTS. As it turned out very few in that wide area had any need for the spume from the Watchtower font.) I got out the index, the Concordance, the Aid to Bible Understanding, the Diaglott and opened the first real question I'd ever had. Is the bible inspired, if so then which parts, who decided which parts, were they annointed and ultimately, who cares?

  After that it was just a game of bending the rules.

  You've 'shredded' Vermont? Vermont? The article in the Awake! magazine warned against "thrill sports", so I'd say you've yet to cross any imaginary line the GB may put up for christians. Har!

  I grew up a JW in the Rockie Mountains of British Columbia. (My parents went to serve where the need was great). I've skiied Marmot Basin when my parents dropped me off, and I've skiied there on school trips when I went on a bus cheek-to-cheek (sometimes literally, but Mom and Dad never found out) with those terrible 'worldies'.

  I also skiied Sunshine and Lake Louise on mixed single JW weekend trips. We arrived with the sexes in different vehicles, booked the sexes into separate rooms, bought enough alchohol for our chaperone to get totally sick stinking pissed on and then the party ensued.

  I'll reserve comment on your "skiing is for fags" comment. I mean, you did go of to "the park" with "your brothers". When you figure out what a ski weekend is all about, shout back, K?

  In all this internecine hand-holding someone should really speak about the mind of the pedophile.

  A pedophile has a very limited chance to realize his or her fantasy of sexual contact with a child.

  The normal avenues of sexual fulfillment, marriage, dating, picking up sluts and boning the bosses wife, none of these satisfy the pedophile. He is attracted to little kids.

  And so he schemes. He plans out a way that he can come into contact with children. It is no good to try it as a school-teacher anymore, that was busted a long time ago, and the first whistle is your last. Catholic priest used to be a good one (if you like boys) but the spotlight is on there now. The pedophile might try to become a lifeguard, so as to be in charge of children already half-naked. (I have personally suspected such a pedophile, gathered evidence, had him arrested and charged.)

  Still the pedophile will scheme. He is planning a way to come into contact with your child. The current system of "Two witnesses, else no crime" is nirvana for these types. What kid-diddler would not like these rules?

  Anyone who thinks that the rate of pedophilia within JW ranks is 'normal' or 'within accepted normal rates' ought to say that out loud, and then think again.

  Screen Name vs Character

  since my character is part of the issues that have been addressed by several posters, i thought that i would clear this up:.

  teejay said: conclusion: no more insulting than you when you mentioned that one has to wonder about someone who'd pick the screen name "amazing.".

  i am not sure if teejay shares agreement with what he quoted, but for discussion sake, i will treat it as though he does.

  I think the internet has been around long enough that the appeal of a "screen name" ought to have worn off by now. Unless you have something to hide, just use your regular damn name already.

Just look at the number of jurisdictions that have abandoned kilowatt wasteful old 'sparky-the-electric-chair' and have gone to the green alternative: death by lethal injection. Credit where credit is due, and all that.

  i wish to make a comment on something that disturbs me deeply to the point i cannot let it pass or be ignored.

  a little over a year ago i resigned as an elder to protest wt policy and how it hurt children.

  the impetus that brought me to that conclusion was a child i knew personally that was in danger.

  General Observation:

  Mad Apostate (and his alter egos) always demanded that everyone direct their actions toward to total destruction of the JW organization. There was no quarter to be allowed. Mad Apostate demanded that Raymond Franz be shaken out of his torpor to reveal imagined hidden secrets.

  Mad Apostates goals were entirely unrealistic.

  Silent Lambs and Lee Elder are working hard on concrete issues that may in fact make life more livable for those caught in the WT web. I salute these efforts, and make my small attempts to help further them.

  Is there an Elite Clique at work here? I don't think so. There are definitely some people who display an elite level of research and analysis. There are some here who have an elite level of empathy and compassion. There are some whose actions and involvement in critical situations hint at the elite level of their common human decency.

  I did not find Mad Apostates contributions to the board to be particularly useful but I would say I think it premature to delete him. He never did present a concise plan to achieve his goal. (875+posts not withstanding) He ought to have that chance.
