been browsing around...and i have to say it is alittle difficult to tell if this is a pro or anti jw site.
any takers on filling me in on what the attitudes are around here?
it seems there are quite afew inactive and df or da people but then there seems to be alot of chat about meetings etc.. for the record, i was raised jw from age 5, baptised at 15 and df at 17 and reinstated at 18. i would call myself inactive...most of my family are still active but talk and associate with me.
Tiffany,
Yep, Armageddon came and went at the end of the 20th century. After all it was the Creator's Promise, just like all those Awake magazines said, sure 'nuff! Now, here we are in paradise...
Of course, paradise has been a bit of a disappointment at times. I don't want to grouse, but I fully expected my kids to be playing with lions and all that. But that sort of thing wasn't promised to ALL of us, you know. Hey, go read your Isaiah if you don't believe me!
That suck-up-goody-two-shoes-elder's kid down the way, now HE'S got wolves and leopards and a maned young lion and HE goes traipsing around with the bloody lot of them in tow like he's leader over them all or some such crap. MY kids? They got a stinkin' cobra in a hole.
Sure it was pretty impressive first time they put their hand over the cobra hole and nothin', and I mean absolutely nothin' happened. But really, how many times is a weaned young child going to get a charge out of covering up the light aperature of a venomous snake? It gets old pretty quick, I can tell you.
I should've figured the real paradise would be like this, a reflection of the old spiritual paradise we had back in our congregations before the big-A. Can't say I wasn't warned about that. Maybe I should have reached out more.
But, thankful for small blessings, right?

its an oldie i know.. i remember, years ago, my parents had some people around for dinner that we never talked to.
after a while we remembered why we never talked to them.
the conversation was so stilted that my father, in a long silence, resorted to this question.
RF,
How beneficial for you then, never having to have experience life out in the wicked world. Born into a life under jehovahs bountious beneficience under the direction of his spirit directed org.Luckyprivilaged boy.
Hey, let's get the Dubspeak right here.
For Brother IronGland, myself and so many others here, "the circumstances of our parentage were highly in our favor."
Now, on to the Bible games. You go get the sisters from the kitchen, and I'll set things up for a nice stimulating round of "Oholah and Oholibah."

Nativenyr, LyinEyes,
That "Pearl Jam" song is called Last Kiss.
Written by Wayne Cochran, and originally recorded by J. Frank Wilson & the Cavaliers back about three decades ago. Proof your parents generation listed to some pretty f***ed up stuff.

help--my daughter is pregnant by a disfellowshipped jw.
he has recently been re-attending meetings and has decided to get reinstated.
he told my daughter that the relationship is off because it would be too difficult to have a relationship between a jw and her(holidays, family etc.
xhill,
Here is a page of some relevant links regarding child support responsibility in Canada and Ontario.
If the key government form "The Paternity Agreement" can be easily obtained with a co-operative father who does indeed intend to "stand by her", then the biggest, stickiest hurdle to obtaining child support has been cleared. In obtaining his agreement to sign this form without involving the courts, then some pressure put on him to be a good christian and shouldering his responsibility in subjection to secular authority in order to show repentance may be a useful lever.
The Ontario Family Responsibility Office (one of the links) gets involved after the forms have been filled out, but I have been told they are very helpful in directing women to the resources they may need. The FRO website has the actual forms there in pdf format.

This is a song I had heard at least a dozen times before before the lyrics finally crystalized for me and I realized just what the song was about.
Then it hit me like a gut-punch.

i got this in an email this morning......i thought it was so cute.

Dear God:
> You don't have to worry about me; I always look both ways.
Ahh, a little skeptic in the making. Excellent!

i would appreciate some input from the board that is weighing quite heavy on mind.. as some of you may know, my ex divorced me six years ago, strictly for religious reasons.
after an enormous amount of legal funds, i succeeded in getting an agreement signed that states that when the child reaches an age that the courts consider mature enough, we would both allow him to make his choice of religions.
even if he wanted nothing to do with religion.. it would seem that the time has finally arrived.

Does anyone know what the 'gold' fringe respresents on the flag?
Guest 77,
Dunno guest, but in her case does it matter if it's a natural gold fringe?
