I have a two-and-a-half foot tall hollow ceramic Xmas tree that has all these red, green and gold bulbuous lenses projecting out of it at weird angles. It has a light bulb inside so that the goofy lenses glow.

i have been in an avatar changing mood.
i wonder what do you all prefer, a personal pic so you know who your posting to or do you prefer a avatar that reflects an aspect of the persons personality?
I prefer when people have there own pic up, I think I can tell which ones might obviously be fake, either that or we know some modelling type geeeorgeous people here on JWD. Of cousrse, due to the nature of this board and some people's situation, an actual picture is out of the question.
I never thought of what my avatar says about me, it's a picture that fills me with a really great memory about my life. I am at the beginning of a very long cross-country trip in that picture, the potential is there, right there with me as I start to roll the first metre of 13,000 kilometres for a great adventure, or a great disaster.
As it turned out, every single roll-of-the-dice I could imagine for my journey resulted in an overwhelmingly positive outcome. Some of the amazing coincidences I experienced on my trip beggar belief. The trip of a lifetime that continues to affect me now, months later. I'm been compelled to review and rewrite why I do things this way, not that way, why I want the things I want.
If I were to look at my avatar from the point of view of a reader, now what would I see? Hmm, possibly: "Here I am the real me up front. Of course, I'm hiding here under a full-face helmet with a mirrored faceshield."
And I guess that says something about me as well. Hadn't thought of it that way before.

as a kid i would try to pay attention, but i just couldn't hang in there.
if i didn't day dream i was going to go insane.. i used to create scenarios in my mind that i was a jw super hero.
i had a special costume that was partially made of "flubber" that would allow me to bounce all over the auditorium.
Before puberty kicked it, I used to imagine that I was actually there in the rented arena or gymnasium to see a troupe of trained trapeeze monkeys. Some of the stunts those monkeys could pull! Breathtaking stuff.
Onset of puberty, before I knew what to do about it, I volunteered for kitchen duty. Standing over that vat of steaming potatoes with my thick wooden masher, thrusting it up and down, sweat beading up in places no sweat had gone before...was oddly satisfying. The monkeys were on their own.
After puberty, I just cut out from the assembly and took girls out on the town, some my age, some a bit older. Sightseeing, walk through the park, out for lunch, whatever. Breathtaking stuff.
After sixteen, it didn't matter, I was out on my own.

My "mars face" and "Mt Rushmore" examples are an example of how to consider the origins of an object from studying the object itself, and not to a priori exclude creation options before looking at the data.
I have clearly missed your point.
An examination of the "Mars Face" data clearly indicates a completely natural formation.
An examination of Mt. Rushmore clearly indicates human intervention and creativity, complete with historical documentation.
For clarification, do you expect that a Science class should teach anything other than these facts?

p.s. I would not object to a Science program that debunks nonsense by introducing the "Mars Face" as a possibly created object then slams that idea to bits with facts. Not at all.
I think it would get our youth interested in the exciting aspects of good research.

You are confusing the aspects of raw exploratory research, the testing of theories against found facts, and the education of the young.
The "Face on Mars Photo", if it is to be used as a teaching tool in schools, might be used in a Political and Social studies class to evaluate the public's documented response to what has amounted to be an urban legend, and how it lingers after having been proven to be shadows.
It has no place in a science classroom other than as a particularly normal and uninteresting geologic feature of the planet Mars, as that is what the scientific observation has proved it to be. It is option #1: "A purely naturalistic object."
To present it as anything else in a science classroom for our youth is to mislead them about facts.
Similarly, teaching and discussion of flat-earthism belongs in a History classroom.
Similarly, teaching and discussion of a creator belongs in a Comparative Religions classroom.

as some of you know, my main form of transport is a motorbike, and having just got a new one, i'm really enjoying it.
however, i find that in my local supermarket i have no advantage as to speed and maneuverability.
