Have you ever read the transcript of the trial in Scotland - here is a quote:
Note the admission of H. C. Covington, General Council of the Watchtower Society, who represented the Society in the Scotland Trial. This trial took place in Scotland in November, 1954 and was a test case brought by the Society to stop Scotland's draft of Jehovah's Witnesses into military service. Covington admitted the failure of early prophecies by Society leaders:
A. That was the publication of a false prophecy, it was a false statement or an erroneous statement in fulfillment of a prophesy that was false or erroneous.
Q. Back to the point now. A false prophecy was promulgated?
A. I agree to that.
Q. It had to be accepted by Jehovah's Witnesses?
A. That is correct.
Q. If a member of Jehovah's Witnesses took the view himself that prophecy was wrong and said so he would be disfellowshipped?
A. Yes, if he said so and kept persisting in creating trouble . . . Our purpose is to have unity.
Q. Unity at all costs?
A. Unity at all costs . . .
Q. A unity based upon an enforced acceptance of false prophecy?
A. That is conceded to be true. (H. C. Covington, Pursuer's Proof of Trial in Scottish Court of Sessions, Douglas Walsh vs. The Right Honourable James Latham Clyde, MP., P. C., pp. 341-342.)

Need some advice on relationship
by hambeak inas some of you know i now have a new job and my significant other is still at the old place.. i am making very good money and am not putting up with his drama queen attitude or the foul mouth.. he is still the best at what he does and the techs there i do not trust their diagnostics.
i am going to bring him there in a couple weeks.
i just enjoy not being around him 24/7 so i guess i am a jerk for feeling like this.

HamB,
I don't know if I have any advice on relationships - but why don't you trust the techs where you are at? What makes your ex the best at what he does?

Martin Luther King: Beyond Vietnam - A Time to Break Silence
by SixofNine inyesterday being mlk's birthday, we probably all heard snippets of his deservedly famous "i have a dream" speech, on the news, or at news websites.
i had never taken the time to read or listen to it all, so when i found the text along with a you tube of him speaking, i blogged it.
but i came across this one today, and it made me think; this is the mlk speech that an america stuck in iraq needs to hear the most.

Nice thread. Some people have such strong convictions and are not only right, but ahead of the curve. MLK was all that and a bag of chips - too bad the world doesn't have him now.

My Wife Just Left Me Because of the Evil Watchtower
by rassillon inthis is very difficult to write because i am crying.
i am normally not the kind of person you will ever see cry because things don't affect me that much but this has got to be the hardest things i have ever went through.. i just got through discussing with my wife my feelings.
i guess it has been hard to hid some of the things that i have felt since i have learned that many of the wt teachings are false.

Oh my goodness. I don't know what to say to you big guy, but I sure hope she comes to her senses and returns. The elders shouldn't advise otherwise. Hang in there.

What do you think of this?
by mrsjones5 inmy son, joshua - the 3 year old, loves the us flag (he has a couple mini ones), any map of the united states (even the little weather map in the newspaper), the statue of liberty (likes to pose as such and is fixated on looking a picture of said statue) and is now starting to take an interest in the federal buildings in d.c.. we really don't know that to think about this other than keeping him supplied with maps, flags, and pictures of the statue of liberty.. what do you all think?.
