Does Knowing the Truth Make you a Happier person?
by gumby inmany of us who were once jehovah's witnesses had a measure of happiness in our lives.
for me, i had a hope in the future, i had answers as to why we are all here, i believed in a loving god who looked after me and cared about me, i had answers to all of lifes big questions.. when i found out the truth about the witnesses, i was lost in a great big world and now had no answers other than the fact that what i once believed was "the truth" in actuality wasn't the truth.i now had to start all over in my search for truth.
for me, it wasn't long before i found what i thought was the truth since i always believed in the bible.

Hey GumGuy - I felt JUST AS YOU DESCRIBED for quite a while. All I can say to you is for some reason it passed. I think mostly due to realizing that either way there isn't anything you or I can do about any of it.
If the Bible is true, all we can really really do is try to be a good a person as we can be and let the rest go. -

Did you ever use these?
by Bumble Bee ini was cleaning out a closet today and came across some book bags.
when i went through them i found one of those bic pens that has the four different colours of ink, red, black, green and blue.
i used to use them to mark my wt different colours for the a and b portion of the answers etc.. anyone else use these?.

Do you mean the pens that are white on the top and have a blue body - made in France? I still use them for my daily pens at work. Notes in different colors and marking up technical papers.
Should I give them up now that I'm no longer in the cult? -

It's what I had with baloney sandwiches when I was a kid. But I think now they use it to color hair.

A question for all Whisky drinkers.
by lfcviking inhello chumz on the board.
nothing really to do with jwism but who prefers the american 'bourbon' type such as 'wild turkey', 'jim beam' etc or who prefers a fine single malt scotch such as 'glenfiddich' or 'glenmorangie'?
i am not trying to stir up nationalism with this question but am just genuinely curious.. lfcv.

Hard not to like the guy. He told a funny story on Letterman about going to a Republican National Convention and having republicans coming up to him to get their pictures taken with him and telling him how they loved him but disapproved of him.

For All Former Elders
by Yizuman ini would like to pose some questions that may challenge your thoughts, if i may.... .
former elders, while i may commend you all for seeing the real truth on about the so called "truth" and thus leaving the borg for what it really & truly is, a lie.
former elders, have you ever thought about or attempted to contact anyone that have been disfellowshipped by your involvement in the j.c.?

Yes I did exactly that in one case. I was bother quite a bit by it and actually apologized multiple times for it.
Fortunately for me all the other DF'ings I was involved with were cut and dried folks who wanted out.
It was pretty had to get DF'd by a committee I was serving on. I got in trouble with the other elders for "coaching" a teen in how and what to say to be spared the DF'ing
Thanks for asking -

I'm sorry BB. Yes it takes two and sometimes both don't start the rework at the same time. Sometimes I get stuff in my eye, but I'm not crying and I feel better when I get the stuff out of my eye - but again not because I was crying.
You obviously care and when you stop caring the crying will stop -- that I can assure you.
I'm rooting for you.
