Hiring a new fellow today and they must be white.
by hambeak inas some of you know i am a manager of an auto repair place that does it all.. the owner is ethiopian and hates blacks.
i had a great guy there who is black and did a great job.
the owner absolutely was rude and nasty to him calling him an animal and ordered him fired because he was slow in getting things done.. i am caught in the middle cuz i need my job to pay the bills so no more black or mexican workers just white folks even though most i have seen are not motivated or see something that has to be done so now i am a baby sitter and have to let them know what has to be done every minute of the day.. oh well such is the life working for foreigners here in the usa..

MrsMcD said:"I hate to say this, but I kind of thought that someone was a sell-out!"
If you mean Colin Powell to his own principles, so did I.
If you mean Colin Powell to Black America, why? Because he's not a liberal democrate? Didn't speak constantly of the issue or racism? Wasn't the typical black leader in that sense?
Why can't a young black man or woman be conserviative or not embrace all the same methods of Rev Sharpton or Rev Jackson? -

Ok I want to say from Prophecor's post:
I really blame politicians and leaders of the black community for putting a lid on black culture in this way. Thank God for them (black leaders and politicians) in pulling American society out of the dark ages and the legalized and socialized racism that was tolerated. (and of course I know that racism still exists, I'm sorry for that, seriously - but fighting that can't be the only avenue taken by black leaders)
Since then it seems they only go back to the troth of blaming society for individual failings of black individuals rather than leading black culture.
I think they did this as it was easier for them, black leaders and politicians.
Bill Cosby says something like prophecor just said and he's attacked by the NAACP.
Colin Powell isn't considered "black enough" to be looked at as a role model.
It's like black leaders keep a lid on what "black" is and who's to blame for all the problems and it's short changing their own communities.
I wished it were different for everyone's sake. But I hope a new class of black leaders will step up and embrace black as a color and race not black as a political term. Black leaders who will point to black women and men of ALL neighborhoods, backgrounds and career paths as inspirations for young black and women. To free everyone from thinking that in order to be "black" you have to talk and think a certain way.Racism isn't just a black problem and whites don't want to work, live, play with racists these days. (yes I know that's not entirely true)
But if a young man comes in for a job interview and is slouched down, mumbling, has an attitude and I don't hire him am I a racist? If he's white am I a racist? You get my point. It's black leaders who still want to only put pressure on society to feel not hiring the young man makes you a racist rather than saying to the young man - sit up and speak up.
Don't anyone dare to call me a racist either, that seems the way certain ones operate when anyone points out that some aspect of black culture is productive - slap the racism card on them and shut down the conversation.

I just got fired and I may not have enough money to go to Italy
by tsunami_rid3r ini just got fired from my job as a waiter because she said i sucked or something along those lines.
i have a week before the fee is due, which is $1,700, and thats not including the plane ticket, my digging equipment, and extra spending money.
i already made a $300 deposit, and $1,700 is only for 3 weeks.

Songs that make you cry...
by El Kabong ini've been kind of sad the past few days for several reasons, but, there are certain songs that just cause the tears to flow whenever i hear them (and especially alone).
only time by enya.
i know that this song is often linked to the sept 11 attacks, but it really is just so hauntingly beautiful.

Billy Joel's Vietnam song....
Goodnight Saigon
We met as soulmates
On Parris Inland
we left as inmates
from an asylum
and we were sharp
as sharp as knives
and we were so gung ho to lay down our lives.
We came in spastic
like tameless horses
we left in plastic
as numbered corpses
and we learned fast
to travel light
our arms were heavy but our bellies were tight
we had no homefront
we had no soft soap
they sent us playboy
they gave us bob hope
we dug in deep
and shot on sight
and prayed to Jesus Christ with all of our might.
We had no cameras
to shoot the landscape
we passed the hash pipe
and played our Doors tapes
and it was dark..
so dark at night
and we held onto each other
like brother to bother
we promised our mothers we'd write
(chorus)
and we would all go down together
we said we'd all go down together
yes we would all go down together. -

In our cong there were no anointed so only one bottle was needed and one elder usually bought it. I've drunk part of it right in the hall after and also kicked a bottle over onto the carpet - (blush)

Depends of course, but sure, why not if it's not too vain or risky.
Perhaps someone has a large mole or distracting feature, I would do that.

Nothing more fun in this world than playing catch with him, but after 7 years of baseball - multiple championships including a state championship and awards - this is the last season.
It started in Little League with us driving to make up meetings missed due to practices and games, me coaching the teams, him progressing and becoming an accomplished pitcher, hitter, fielder at every level.
I can't believe we are down to one last season - it's been a great way for me to make new friends since leaving the org.
So enjoy every second of your kids sports -- it all passes too quickly and I'll be back to bore the shit out of you with stories of his last season! -
