Probably Tejas toast since Texas was part of Mexico. :)
The word cremation has Latin roots.

This is a new one to me, interesting read. I've read about the Stanford experiment, and there was another one where people were instructed to give electric shocks to people to the point of (as far as they knew) killing the subject and most followed the instructions of their superior. Most of us here realize, and have experienced first hand that we can be manipulated, and conditioned to do things one wouldn't normally do.
As far as the collective good it depends on what you mean by that. Humanity has worked for the collective good for as long as we've been human, from tribes to cities to nations, working for the collective good has overall benefited humanity. In a sense it does take a village. Our modern society with all its niceties would not be possible if people did not work for the collective good to some extent. There has to be a balance, anarchy can be just as bad as blind group think. -

The Salt Threat
by maowr in.. you may be aware of recent media coverage on 'the salt threat'* where the fda is trying to regulate the food packaging industries use of salt in the products.. if they go forward with it what would stop them from trying to regulate the salt content in usda meat since it's common knowledge that blood contains salt and if the production line is slowed down allowing for a better quality of bleed in the carcass reducing the amount salt or blood in the meat.. * http://abcnews.go.com/gma/oncall/story?id=3929972&page=1 .

I think people with tar on their heels would run pretty slow, and I could get away, but ok I suppose I'll fear them if I have to.

InterContinental Broccoli Missiles!
I've read about this a few days ago, and I can see where limiting the amount of salt in processed foods would benefit the health of the general public. Maybe they could just put a surgeon general's warning on foods with more than say 2 grams of sodium per serving. -

Time is the fire in which we all burn...
by zeroday ininteresting actually...time...we all live our lives in the stream of time.
we go to work raise our families pursue our careers and yet we all burn in the same stream of time...the fire is so short lived we long to discover the other side of our time what is out there what awaits us...i do not know i would like to think there is something else but until our fire burns out we will never know...

"Time is the fire in which we all burn" Dr. Soren, Star Trek: Generations.
Do I get some kind of nerd award? :p
Although I'm sure he was quoting something else.
Edit: Ok, some serious content. My opinion is you just gotta work with what you have now, and cross that bridge we all come to when you get to it.
