What's frustrating is that even if the WT$ was forced to disclose their assets, rather than seeing the dollar amount, the R&F would merely moan and murmur excitedly about "the beast" turning on Jehovah's representative, you remember, the whole "touching his eyeball" load o' crap? Personally I'd like to see them gouge his eyeball right out!

Does your personality type affect your belief in the divine?
by Paralipomenon inrecently, i was reacquainted with a friend that i knew since i started grade school.
he grew up in the world wide church of god and i as a witness.
neither of us did christmas so often we would find ourselves in the library while the rest of the school did christmas activities.. .

ENTJ Raised a dub and left at 36 Hovering on the thin line between agnostic and atheist but leaning towards atheism. If there is a God/Higher Being then a. why would they give a rat's ass whether we worship or not and b. if they DO care whether or not we worship then why the hell aren't they doing anything? Right there with the skepticism as you can see. I believe that personality plays a major role in how receptive you are to religion/faith/etc.

Knew I was 'boozled from about the age of seventeen (the year after baptism) but was especially effective at boozling myself until last year at age 36 when I couldn't convince myself to believe the crap anymore. Am currently a recovering boozler and effective fader... *grin*

Hey Jag, I can certainly understand your depression and feelings of anger and bitterness. I can tell you that I was raised a dub as well and was on Prozac from the time I was sixteen until just recently (twenty plus years). All those years of medication didn't accomplish what one year of therapy did. I firmly believe that medication can be a wonderful tool, but I think that is all it is, a tool, a bandaid unless you deal with the underlying issues. There absolutely are people for whom meds are vital and a wonderful blessing, but I also think the value of therapy cannot be underestimated. I also agree with others who suggested changing your circumstances. Sometimes that can change your perspective and give you a new start. When you feel hopeless and trapped, its difficult to NOT feel angry and depressed. I really hope you find something that works for you, you're a good guy and you deserve better.

how can the society continue to place more importance on pioneering than getting an education or getting a good job?
why do these men insist on making young ones (and even older members) feel bad for wanting to have a secure future, what the hell is wrong with not wanting to live in a tent?

I find it especially ironic in light of the conversation I just had with my mom (dyed in the wood and dead in the brain dub) in which she assured me vociferously that "they aren't like that anymore!" in discouraging going to college. But my mom (like all dubs) hears what she wants to hear...

Convention look boring
by kwr ini was able to watch some of the convention for 2007 on youtube and they look boring.
do they just have three days of different programs or do they just repeat the same program friday, sat & sun?.

i don't remember hearing anything about the questions changing and this really surprised me, though i don't know why!

Oh the irony - it was changed the year before I got dipped. And what a change! How could we have just stomached that! I can't believe how obvious it is that the Borg puts itself directly in between the person and their relationship to God. That is incredibly offensive and arrogant - I'm just appalled.
