My only loss was that of my mother, but my worldly relatives and a close circle of friends have more than taken her place. So, I guess my loss of her could also be counted as a gain. Other gains since leaving the JW's: a wonderful husband, a college education, the ability to work as a writer, community and political involvement, a close circle of real friends, the ability and right to form my own opinions and conscience, a true relationship with God, open mindedness, true love for my fellow man, and a pretty happy life.

Have you gained more than lost?
by compound complex ingreetings, my friends:.
the above question is not in regard to one's weight.
that would be a rude question .... in terms of your jw experience, have the losses you've suffered been offset by the good you've gained?.

Being new to this board, I have many assumpitons about you. First, it seems that you were raised as a JW. Anyone who has been indoctrinated by an evil cult needs to be deprogrammed, especially those who were raised that way. Please, if you haven't already, seek therapy. Second, it seems that you have a yearning to believe in God and the Bible. That's fine, but such beliefs require FAITH. You must develop faith in God that says He is loving and not the tyrant that the WTB&TS paints Him. You must also realize that, by all historical accounts, the Bible is incomplete. If you want to know everything it really did say (as far as we know now), you have to do research.
I cannot even imagine how you feel, since I wasn't raised a JW, and I am not gay. However, all doctrine aside, any organization that hides abuse of women and children, destroys families and causes needless deaths DOES NOT HAVETHE TRUTH! That, my dear man, is THE TRUTH.

new aid in keeping canvassers of your doorstep
by Borgia inhere on jwd we have spent many words on jw doorpeddling.
even the use of pepperspray has been put into play.
however, there's a new toy out there that cannot be seen, smelled but felt!

If you don't want JW's to call at your door, simply write a letter stating so and mail it to your local kh. Causing physical pain is cruel and unneccessary. Besides, with these wackos, they'd probably view it as persecution and wear any wounds as a badge of honor.

Possible threat to UK JW charitable status

I wonder why the issue of the JW's hiding pedophiles wasn't brought to the forefront. After all, their evil policies put all children at risk. I don't know where I read it, but Rick Fearon and his wife are working with their state's government to have the JW's tax exempt status revoked due to the pedophile issue.

do you think that the jws that check out this site are affected ?
by looloo inobviously some of you were , but some topics i notice get huge amouts of folk reading them but not replying , i think that had i had internet access years ago and read some of these threads i wouldnt have lasted another week at kingdom hall , and yet i still imagine going to sit in the hall during a meeting so i could see what its like listening to a talk without a programmed mind and knowing that its a sign of a cult if your friends and family warn you its a cult but the cult tells you its just satan trying to get you out "the truth"!

If JW's are reading this site, why aren't they arguing with us (the apostates) like they do on youtube?

Jehovah's Witnesses elders refusing to testify in Murrieta molestation case
by 9328737 in08:10 am pst on thursday, march 6, 2008. by tammy mccoy.
a legal battle is looming over riverside county's need to protect children, and people's right to practice religion without government intrusion.
a prosecutor wants leaders of a jehovah's witnesses congregation to testify about what a murrieta man accused of molesting two girls told them.

Even if the elders in this case are forced to testify, it doesn't necessarily mean that they'll tell the truth. Isn't the definition of truth with the WTB&TS facts given to people who need to know them? Everyone has seen the video on youtube with the elder lying in court about whether shunning is a carried out by the JW's, haven't they?

How would you answer this........
by fifi40 inthis morning i had a 40 min phone conversation with my ex husband because i spoke with my 15 year old son on wednesday about the inaccuracies of the jw belief system he has been raised with by his dad.
obviously ex husband is not happy about this.
the one thing he kept saying is that even if it is wrong it is not a bad way to live your life............what would you say to this?.

Being a JW is a bad life, particularly for kids. What about the ban on partipating in school sports, politics, newspaper, band, etc? What about JW students not preparing for college but instead getting baptized and running the risk of losing friends and family when the kid realizes that he's in a cult? What about the protectionist attitude of the WTB&TS when it comes to pedophiles and the re-victimizaton when it comes to victims? What about the screwed up view of masturbation and sex? It's no wonder there are so many perverts in that organization! What about the mind control that causes members to lose logic and reasoning abilities? I could go on and on, but the fact remains that being a JW is a bad life for everyone, especially for kids.

Family :-(
by Bumble Bee indo you ever wish your family was different than what you have?
i would so love to have the type of family a friend of mine has.
they are all very very close, their children are very close, they get together every sunday for brunch, each sibling takes a turn at having it at their place.

Don't feel too badly about the lack of closeness in your family. It happens all the time when there is a bad history (premature death of parent, alcholism, being in the JW cult, etc.). Keep reaching out to your siblings and try to understand the reasons for the coldness, but at the same time, build a family of close friends.
