My husband and I sleep in separate rooms on different floors. I have difficulty with stairs, so my room is on the first floor with an adjustable bed. My husband's room is on the second floor with his queen sized bed. It hasn't hurt our marriage one bit!

At what point do the individuals in the ORG need to take responsibility for their actions?
by vajeni82 inso, i'm sitting here, being pissed about my family.
both of my parents and my only sister are jws.
i haven't had a relationship with them since they i left in 2002.

You and I left the Watch Tower cult under similar circumstances, and I've been shunned by my jw family for 25 years. I overcame the resentment by seeing these people for what they really are; unhealthy association. In reality, both of our families would've rather seen us endangered or dead at the hands of our jw husbands rather than have a free, safe life. It isn't any different than letting us die due to a lack of a blood transfusion.
Personally, I don't care whether their shunning comes from their own evil, cult influence, or a combination of both. The fact remains that they don't have our realistic best interests at heart. If it was anyone else, would you want to associate with delusional people who would rather see you die than disagree with them?

verybelated intro: Tylin
by Tylinbrando inso i have been a lurker on this forum since its inception.
i registered over a year ago.
i jumped in several months back with a highly controversial subject of my daughter being sexually abused by an elder and the efforts we were taking to bring him to justice.

Thanks for your story. Can't wait to hear from your wife! Please keep us updated on the trial. California courts seem to be particularly just when it comes to punishment of child abusers. I closely followed the Gilbert Simental trial in the news and burst into tears upon discovering that he was sentenced to 45 years to life for doing much less than what was done to me by my mother's husband many years ago. Laws are catching up to these creeps and the organizations that hide them.

Funny you should start this thread today. My husband just came home from the grocery store describing a rant he went on to the cashier. He bagged five apples, and they rang up at $14.47. Needess to say, he didn't buy them. Instead he'll go to a discount suprmarket tomorrow and pay a fraction of the price.

Coco Rocha People Magazine JW Blurb
by NoRegrets inso i know that there has been a lot of discussion about coco rocha and it is pretty much a proven fact that she is a jw.
i was surprised, though, to see her make a public statement in about it in people magazine.
we were in the doctor's office waiting room and my wife pointed it out to me.

I read an article about her somewhere other than People magazine. She sounded like a whiney brat to me....saying something about there aren't a lot of other famous jws. And jws like her piss me off. She must be well connected in the Watch Tower to be where she is right now. I've read about several young jws who were pressured to give up careers in the arts, and they were people with real talent, not just underweight bimbos who like to have their picture taken.

I can tell from the few phone conversations I've had with you that you are an articulate, decent young man that most parents would be proud to call son. It will take a while, but all of those who have abandoned you will be replaced with people who will embrace you for who you are. Speaking of which, what are you doing for Easter dinner? Maybe you and akafreelife can swing by.
It's good to hear you've got a roommate situation set up already. When will you be moving in? Please, please call me if you need to. And check your private messages. I'm sending you a link to my Facebook page if you want to friend me. I can reccommend you as a friend to a few local ex-jws if you want.
You've just made the most important decison of your life by coming out to your jw family and friends about TTATT and being gay. Finally you have room in your life for educational and professional opportunities as well as people who will love and appreciate you for who you really are that you never would've had otherwise!

Avoiding Homelessness
by magotan ini'm falling apart here.
the false teachings of the jw enrage me; we started covering the information for the jeremiah book, and i was outraged at how they twist up the scriptures to meet what they want to say.
my dad wants to consider the "god's love" book during family worship evening.

No Child Left Behind Testing
by skeeter1 inaround the us, 6th graders (and alot of other grades) are preparing for this spring's standardized testing.
when "we" grew up, the standardized tests were straigh forward math problems.
the standardized math test is now only 16 questions long, but they are all long, drawn out word problems.

Skeeter, I was in the gifted class, and geometry wasn't taught until the 10th grade. I am 48 years old and attended a public school in rural western PA.
I assisted with proficiency testing in a first grade class in an Ohio school during the 1997-1998 school year. There were two questions on the test that none of the teachers could answer. I don't remember what the first one was, but the second one was as follows:
When portraying the colors of the leaves during autumn, what art supplies would be the best to use?
- crayons
- markers
- colored pencils
- paints
I still haven't figured that one out. Another question on the test for first graders was to label Ohio and all of its border states on a blank US map. And you're correct; teachers now teach in preparation for the proficiency tests, because their jobs are at stake. It's a shame.

Is the grass greener on the other side?
by What Now? inhi all.... so my mom phoned me up this morning and said she needed to talk to me about something.
she asked me whether or not our (worldly) family thought that my husband and i were witnesses anymore.
one, someone in my family said to her, "i didn't know you guys wear short dresses like that" - commenting on a slightly above the knee dress i had worn to a family event.

I try to imagine raising him as a witness ... and the thing is, I can picture it going well. I know I can make it fun, something he'll enjoy and want for himself. I know he'd have a great group of friends, whose parents I would trust.
As far as I know, most "worldly" people as a group do NOT hide pedophiles within their midst. You have less reason to trust jw parents, because the Watch Tower makes it a point to cover up child molestation.
