  At first, I used to pray that my crazy JW husband would not kill me during one of his rampages. Later I prayed that he would commit adultery, so I could get a "scriptural" divorce. After I was disfellowshipped for saying that I didn't want to be in an organization that insisted I either stay with a man who was threatening to kill me or remain single for the rest of my life, I didn't pray at all, because I believed God wouldn't hear my prayers. 20 some years later, I pray several times a day to thank God for my happy life.

  Turn your cameras on JWs day

  i just thought i'd post this idea i just had.

  knowing that most people want nothing to do with any kind of activism, i understand, of course, that there will be maybe 1 or 2 people who will think this is a good idea and probably not a single person will ever actually do this thing.

  having said that wouldn't it be cool to have a project called "turn your cameras on jehovah's witnesses?

  just because someone's a witness, it doesn't mean they're horrible people.

  but the religion is very strange.

  when you think about it, a witness can't go to a work christmas party by themselves but if an unbelieving mate wanted his jw wife to accompany him, this is her personal business.

  Elders knew a woman got raped- the woman presses charges but case was

  dropped because there wasn't enough evidence.

  the elders did there investigation and could probably help the case out a lot because they found the woman to be innocent and the guy guilty... they knew eachother through jws.

  he was going to the meetings his whole life, but didn't have any priviledges.. 6-8 months later he became a publisher.

  If the elders in that poor woman's congregation are anything like the elders that presided over the congregations that I attended, I'm sure the society knows the whole story.It would like to me the elders, and probably under the society's direction, are trying to burn the candle at both ends. They're not discouraging her from seeking a protective order, but they're not forthcoming with the authorities about this pervert--all to avoid bad press--nothing new here.

  Has Anyone on the Board read the Gospel of Judas Ishariot?

  as of late i've been facinated about the books or gospels that didn't become part of the bible cannon.. i am reading it presently and i have learned how this gospel was found and the intricate work that has gone in to protecting and preserving the precious remnants of papyri that makes up this gospel of judus ishariot.

  i was wondering if any one else is interested in this sort of thing?.

  my son just bought me the gnostic bible too, and it is quite interesting.

  I have either read or watched documentaries on the Gospels According to Judas, Mary and Thomas. It is interesting to note several contradictions in these writings with not only the JW's but other religions as well. If I remember correctly, Judas was chosen to betray Christ because of his faithfulness, Mary's account focused more on self reflection and spirituality and Thomas quoted Jesus as saying something like, 'Do not look for me in buildings of wood and stone. Split a piece of wood, and I'll be there. Lift a rock, and you will find me'--something like that anyway. As anti-relgion as the WTB&TS is, I'm amazed that they haven't considered these other writings, since the Bible as we know it today, is comprised of writings selected by the early Catholic Church. But I guess as screwed up as they are regarding the Bible, I can't imagine how much worse it would be, if they had even more ancient writings to work with.

  Ready made friends may be found (sometimes worldwide) by joining groups such as the Kiwanis, Optimist, Lions, Rotary Clubs etc., and you get to do some good in the world.

  Recurring nightmares of getting busted by elders, anyone???

  the last week or so, i've had recurring dreams of elders coming after either me or my wife (who is still a believer).

  for example, i dreamt elders were accusing us of being apostates and were demanding a meeting with us.

  they were citing lack of regular meeting attendance as the reason for their suspicions.

  I've never had elder nightmares, but I did feel guilty when doing things like buying a lottery ticket or voting for the first time right after being disfellowshipped. The longer you're away from the mind controlling cult, the easier it gets to live a normal life. After about 20 years of being out, I now hate the leadership but feel sorry for the ones being lead, one of which is my poor mother. Good luck to you, ( and no, I don't feel bad about wishing you good luck!)

  I post on youtube as exjw44288, if you want my opinion of this video and the maker's explanation of it. There are so many active JW's that respond to "apostate" videos, so there's hope that some of these idiots will come to their senses. At best, they will leave the evil organization or at worst, come to believe the society's edicts on the demonization of apostates and finally leave us good people alone!

  i received an email from my sister in law.

  she was relating an experience given in a talk at an assembly.

  a young couple wanted to have children, but they couldn't conceive, so they decided to adopt a child.
