"Absolute power corrupts." This is the case with the WTB&TS and the elders. When I was going though trials with an abusive jw stepfather and later an abusive jw husband, I got the distinct impression that they just wanted me to go away. Counsel without punishment was given to both abusive jw men, and it was left at that. Years of neglect and abuse were ignored despite my pleas for help, however, it only took the elders a few minutes to decide to disfellowship me.

Were Some Bodies of Elders Secret Societies unto Themselves ?
by flipper inwitnessing unjust treatment by elders and seeing others unjustly treated by such - had a big impact on me seeing through the facade that was the organization called jehovah's witnesses.
being raised in it 44 years i observed many times congregation elders operating their crew of " fellow elders " like a good old boys club in which although it was called a " body " of elders ; nevertheless still one elder dominated others and the lesser elders fell into line with what the " chief " or prime elder said would go down.
when leaving the organization in late 2003 - i questioned my own father, an elder for over 50 years about the unjust treatment i had received at the hand of such men.

by minimus in.
did you think you might "get contacted" somehow by those powerful demons?
did you avoid anything the society said was associated with demonism?.

No, I was too busy getting my ass kicked by my jw husband. I was very afraid of him until the end. I woke up and got the hell out of there.

Another thought: your ex doesn't want his parents to see your child. Did you ever ask him why? Don't you think he knows them just a little bit better than you do? By allowing them to see your child, you are not allowing the paternal grandparents to suffer the consequences of them shunning their own son. Since you made the mistake of allowing a relationship to develop, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to cut your daughter off from them completely. But their visitation should be restricted as described above. As far as you being da'd is concerned, telling them would be a good idea. Hopefully they will shun you as they do their son, and it will be a good example for your child. She will learn at a tender age just what the jws really are about.

IMHO, I think your ex and his current wife have it right. Aside from the fear mongering, there are also protected pedophiles within the jw congregations. Why on everything that is holy, would you allow your child to be taken to the kh whether it be by either the maternal or paternal grandparents? And another thing; you give up one of the two weekends in a month's time to your ex's parents? Shouldn't that be his responsibility? One more thing; you drive halfway to meet them? This just gets more unreal by the minute. If the paternal grandparents want to see the child, why don't they drive to where you live, stay in a hotel and visit throughout the week? If they're not retired yet and not available during the week, how about doing so during holidays? There's got to be a better way than how you're doing it now. You can leave the da out of it if you wish, but you definitely need to stop coddling them. They are in a cult and are actively trying to drag your poor little kid into it. They have no right to expect you to give up one of your weekends and drive half way to meet them when their own son won't do the same.

Five years ago I told my parents that my family and I were moving to Indiana. They didn't believe me. They told me that I was lying, my husband was lying, we were deluded, and we weren't going anywhere. I made it very clear that this was going to happened and I told them when. Mother pulled a crazy about a week before we left, I decided that I wasn't going to deal with her and we left California without saying goodbye. And get this - they were surprized that we left! Omg! What we were saying was true!
It's not surprising she didn't believe you. After all, the WTB&TS has been telling her for years that Armageddon is coming, and that hasn't happened yet!
Hope your brother makes a quick recovery!

There's an elder who is a man first and elder, second apparently. Good for him! Every bit of jail time and the disfellowshipping are well worth the few minutes it took him to whip that guy's ass.

An ex-JW underground railroad system
by Layla33 ini have been thinking about this since yesterday or maybe a little bit longer, but cognac's situation situation really struck me and so many others that are in a situation that seems not only like psychological torture, but where someone almost seems imprisoned against their will through the wts society, it seems to happen in marriages, but not always.. i am a big forensics person, so i was watching some mindless program on television about forensics or something like that (could have even been law & order) and they were trying to find a woman who had "disappeared" and what had actually happened was that a group of people who didn't really know each other, had this silent group who would pick someone up from one point to another, get them away from their abusive spouse/situation, and help them find a job and a place to stay.
it took them at least three weeks to track the person down because each person really didn't know the other, they were just one check off point for another.. and i was thinking, couldn't we create a safe haven for those in those high pressured situations?
i would be willing to help start it, financially support it, etc i am just in the planning, thought process stage, but i would love to have an aresnal of help from others, who could assist people that are trying to break free, start over, and all of that.. would anyone else be interested?

Things that I can think of that would be needed: a safe, temporary place to stay, job contacts, newtwork of assistance programs such as government aid, counseling, etc. Count me in if you start something like this.
