Here's a thought: Too bad there isn't some way to let this creep's fellow inmates know how little your wife is. I bet he'd get his ass beat more than a few times in prison if everyone knew that a small woman fought him off.

yesterday, was the preliminary hearing for the "alleged" attacker.
my wife had to relive that morning in front of that bastard once again.

Df'd 20 years ago--moved to "worldly" father's area a year later. Contacted in my new area by elders from the local congregation more than 5 years ago and nothing since. Did have mags left on the porch at our current house where we've lived for 5 and a half years. Mom still in has my address. I posted about this last week:

JWD- Some of the Best Supportive Discussion I've Seen
by flipper init certainly is a diverse board we have here , isn't it ?
we all come from different backgrounds, walks of life, and had different experiences in growing up as children into adolescence.
so it should suffice to say, that we will all have a variety of takes on various issues that come up on the board.

I love this board, because it helps me to be aware of what's going on in a cult that still claims my mom. I also feel better trying to help others who are attempting to escape the cult's clutches. Sorry as I am that it's true that many have suffered the fallout of the WTB&TS, I like having a group who knows what I've been through.

Let's Hear it For Simon -Thanks For This Board - And All it Accomplishes
by flipper ini think it's only appropriate to put out a thread to thank simon for the great job he does in moderating this board, watching over discussions to make sure that the purpose of jwd discussion stays focused .
i believe that he and the mods do a great job in helping this board along in it's journey - and enables us to have the freedom of speech- without having fear of reprisal - as long as the guidelines are met.
so, i for one would like to personally thank you simon - for bringing this board into existence, as it has helped many to be able to vent after leaving the jehovah's witnesses cult, and get support, and for others it has helped them have a great place to discuss many important topics that have a heavy play in many of our lives !

Have u found friendships w/ worldy people be hard?
by blkblk13 inso, i'm embarking on slow fade and i think it's time for me to start making friends w/ some non-jdubs so that i'll have a support network once i decide to be completely out and everyone ive ever known abandons me.
ive always gotten along much better w/ wordly people than jdubs so i'll haveno problem securing friends but im concerned about being to keep them.. i want out of the org for various reasons but i must admit i still believe many of the teachings.
i just think the leadership and organization itself is corrupt.

The way to make friends is to be friendly, and the way to keep friends is to have something in common. Get a hobby or join a club to meet people with similar interests. There are tons of things that have pagan origins, and the only reason the WTB&TS forces jws to abstain from holidays is to have just one more thing to control in the lives of the rank and file. Holidays are important to most people, because they are fun. You don't have to be a cookie baking, tree decorating person with a yard that looks like a landing strip at Christmas, but it would be nice to attend parties, participate in a gift exchange, volunteer to serve the less fortunate, etc.
I am a cookie baking, tree decorating FOOL with a yard that looks like a landing strip at Christmas. I shop year round for gifts, and my husband and I start baking and decorating right after Thanksgiving. I always have a houseful of people on Christmas day and usually New Year's Day. It's a lot of work, but I LOVE it! We go all out for all of the holidays, but Christmas and the 4th of July are the biggest. We always include people in our celebrations who have no where to go. It is very rewarding. Start slow and give it a try if you like.

How badly does the organization manage people when they need to let people go that only earn room, board, small stipend and healthcare?
Please note that I am not a licensed insurance agent, but I do some marketing work for one. From what I understand, the rates for young people are much lower than for the middle aged and elderly, especially in the current market place. Since this is the case, it stands to reason that cost savings on healthcare is the motivation behind the lay offs. I've read on other threads that younger ones are being called as quickly as the older ones are shoved out. NIce reward for all of those who have served the organization during their youth and then cast aside like yesterday's newspaper as soon as they reach middle age, huh?
