"i'm perfect, you're doomed" by kyria abrahams, 2009, touchstone.. if you want a way to get people out of that horrible cult, easily, quickly and expeditiously, then here is how to do that.. i can say with a vote of confidence that anyone who reads this book will never and i mean never become a dub.

dubs who read it (assuming they have at least one or two brain cells left) will run from their religion like flies on shit when you pour bleach on it and blow it up with dynamite.. toss away crisis of conscience, apocalypse delayed, 30 years a watchtower slave and all those other very nice books and read this one.

i read those and all the other ones.

Am I wasting my time?

i am the husband of an ex-jw.

she left when she was 18, because she was dating a non-jw.

they got married, and he began openly cheating on her.

To clarify and be my own devil's advocate. (1) She disassociated herself at 18. (2) I was justified to be angry, but in doing so, I have driven a wedge between her and her family. In hindsight, the issues would have disappeared for another 10 years if I hadn't made an issue of it. (3) The issue occurred several months ago. I just stumbled across some of the scripture in question recently and tried to re-open a discussion with my brother-in-law.
First of all, you are a hero for standing up to the Watch Tower nonsense! Please don't think you drove a wedge between your wife and her family. The cult that they belong to did that a long time ago. Just out of curiosity, what does her unbelieving father say about all of this? He should be informed that his daughter was molested by a jw and put on reproof for that unless he's a homicidal maniac. And, by the way, blaming and punishing the victim is NOT unusual in this cult. Please spend your time and effort in helping your wife learn the "truth about the truth" and freeing herself from the residual damage of being raised in a cult. She needs to understand that her jw family has no "power of conviction" but instead cult controlled minds.
Hopefully she stays away from such toxic people. It's been my experience that that is the best thing to do.

How absolutely sad. If one of the reader's comments is true, this girl was trying to free herself from the Watch Tower and took her aggression out on her mother. Here is the quote: I know this girl personally. Her mom & family are involved heavily with the Jehovah's Witness religious cult and the family was trying to force her to stay with the cult (which is a very controlling group) and she did not want to. JWs poison the mind and try to control people. They are a VERY dangerous cult known for this kind of abuse.

please tell my thirty-six year old niece what you would tell all your loved ones if they were to go back to the cult because they wanted to see their loved ones again.. she was df'd at sixteen for being a teenager with an anxiety disorder, her dad had walked out on her and her family(2 other sisters) when they were young and never supported them or the mother.

all of them had to live with their grandmother.

after the last child left home, their father has their mother move back in with him.

There are many other ways to build a family and have loving relationships other than returning to the Watch Tower cult. The first would be to learn to love yourself and then build a social life with non-toxic people. You're only setting yourself up for heartbreak if you count on jws to fill a void. Watch Tower relationships are very conditional. If you're unable or unwilling to be and do what you're told, jws will turn on you all over again.

The main difference between this case and the Watch Tower is that jws confess to a group of men within an organization that claims to have no clergy. Once a jw confesses to the elders, the WT Society is contacted. Courts have ruled in the past that there is no confidentiality in cases such as these. Google Gilbert Simental, and read the articles about the court's decision about his confession to the elders. The elders were forced to testify about the confession under threat of prosecution.

How did you spend your Saturdays?

it's been 3 weeks and every weekend is so much fun, spending quality time with real friends who dont pretend... last week was bbq, this sat was potluck, next one is long weekend away from home... all in all love my life again.... how was your saturday?

I did the same thing on Saturday that I did on Friday and today..manned a yard sale. It was a community wide sale, and I made $250. A good friend of mine had some of her stuff at my sale, and she sat with me most of the time. We had time to catch up, and we both enjoyed talking to the shoppers. My husband joined us when he had the time. Another friend of mine brought a bike over to put in the sale. We already had a smaller bike, and I got to sell both of them at very good prices to a disabled woman for her children. The looks on her kids' faces was amazing! It was really cool!

Next Saturday I'l be doing prep work, because on Sunday I'll be cooking up a storm for a baby shower. We're waiting on our fifth, yes I said fifth, granddaughter!

Last night the one cool elder calls me

i figured he was going to arrange the committee and try to get me kicked out after the whole "big pile of books" labelled "take this shit".. well his call made me realize that more and more people ... elders included no longer take this religion seriously.

after he told me he heard what happened he actually laughed and said i would never expect that.

he then told me that it is apparent that i no longer want to be connected to the organization.
