the real question is: how many JW would follow the WTS if they would say: "lets kill a politician to get the last days rolling! -[insert random relevation verse]"
i BET there would THOUSANDS if the WTS would do it properly. if not millions...
its the question: "What would the society need to do to convince you that she isnt gods organisation?"
false propheties, false teachings and human laws dont do it. what would do it?
a elder in a congregation my mother was in in the 1960s one time ordered the congregation members to bring a bucket and a handmirror to the next gathering. AND MOST OF THEM DID IT! he was disassociated sometime later, but it proves one time more that most JW are brainless zombies. -

Why does the WTS insist everyone sign up for the Ministerial School ?
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini never enjoyed giving # 2 talks.
i never enjoyed being at a podium and speaking.
i took drama in high school just to get over the fear of being in front of people and speaking.

i always had the feeling if you arent in the school you're almost disassociated. and i looked DOWN on brothers who werent in the school (and werent elders and or elderly).
i always laugh inside when brother "cant-read" tries to do it better the 18652th time. just before sister "cant-speak-and-act" sets foot on stage. lol. being a JW is a great opportunity for COMPLETE FREAKS to speak in front of 70 ppl and hear it clapping right after it (at least on their first appeareance).
omg, i just realized that i looked down on anyone who wasnt in the school AND on anyone who is in the school but just was unable to do it properly. im sorry ;/ -

Bible infallible?
by Shawn10538 ini am wondering how many of the folks on this site believe that the bible is the infallible word of god.
post your replies if you are.
can i get an amen?
-
Marcel
the bible is infallible! -> how can you know? god inspired it! and he surely cared for his word! -> how do you know god did it? he told us in the bible! -> how do you know that this is true? -> the bible is infallible!
i believe thats a tough question. if you use (wordly) logic its nearly impossible that the bible is infallible (so old, so many humans with the chances to alter it - with intention and not) and you cant have proof for it. to me it sounds on many passages embarassing human. BUT! if you want to believe there is a way to proof thats infallible! simple: if its his word god cared for it! WOULD YOU DARE TO BELIEVE THAT GOD WHO CREATED THE UNIVERSE IS INCAPABLE TO CARE FOR HIS BOOK?! WOULD YA?! *guilt* even if all humans who wrote and translated the bible were fallible he would guide them invisibly that all needed information will survive. and passages which sound human are just like that: written by humans with a small viewpoint. but of course the important information is in there nevertheless.
thats the way i saw it as a good JW. and thats how the WT tells us.
its circular logic again, but who cares. believing is not about calculating. believing is to see things that arent there. simple stuff. (thats why the apostles and early christians didnt believe. they KNEW... in my opinion...) -

Not all things are either lies or truth. If you believe you have evidence for something and state it as truth, that doesn't make it truth. But it doesn't make you a liar, either. People aren't difficult to trick. Magicians make their living doing it. And they can even trick themselves. Anyone can see a ghost if they are willing to believe that any vague thing might have been one. But consider this: If CNN or any other mainstream news outlet could show actual evidence of a person having been harmed by an evil spirit, don't you think they'd jump on it? It would be the story of the century. But you never hear about it. Because any story someone tells about harm caused by evil spirits also has a rational, non-evil-spirit explanation. No, the people telling you about their evil spirit experiences aren't lying. They are interpreting events they witnessed. If you had the same experience, you might interpret it differently. As would I. Dave
i basically think about it like you do. but ive that remaining little doubt. and recently a somehow trusty person told me again of an evil spirit which haunted his parents house when they werent JW. i just wonder how four people can misinterpret regulary opened doors when they come home everytime, pushes from nowhere and steps in behind doors and when you open the door noones there.
i just cant explain that with my logic. the only explanation i can think of that this person lies to me. especially the opened doors in the whole house - what can you misinterpret there? whats a possible rational explanation? its the second time i hear from trusty people a demon-story about opened doors. both with many witnesses to see it. one time as said four familymembers and one time three elders and a woman.
lies?!
it makes me sick. -

thats a tough topic for me! ive spoken to so many ppl who *swear* to *know* that there *ARE* evil spirits.
ppl who've seen them. whole familys who have been punished by spirits. you can find myths and religions on evil spirits all over the world. artists who say spirits talk to them and help them to write their songs.
*all* lies? everything made up? how can something completely made up spawn so many "evidences"?
i would love to believe that there are NO evil spirits. but its hard for me. sure, i never seen anything explicit supernatural, but if satan and the demons have two strategies? hiding their existence to intellectual ppl and show their existence to spiritual ppl?
would be smart. would explain many things.
if there is NO spirtual world im fine with living my life and dont bother with religion anymore.
but if THERE ARE evil spirits, i feel like doing something. and i tend to live a life as a JW instead of searching another religion.
tough, thats tough, tough! -

Have You ever experienced that?
by Marcel intheres a thing that always amazed me, but almost never hit me in person.
okay, imagine: big assembly, second/third day, talk and new book/magazine released, brothers sitting on boxes full of the released publication, singing, prayer, run!
have you ever felt that rush of happiness that gives many jws that sparkle of joy in the eyes when a new publication is released?

have you ever felt that rush of happiness that gives many JWs that sparkle of joy in the eyes when a new publication is released? its like a second bible fell from the heavens. they dont stop clapping, they're excited and they would kill their moms to get the new publication before anyone else.
i was NEVER that way. the maximum was, that i felt "hey, nice, ill read it sometime!". only when i was a kid i liked the run for the publication after "amen". dont get me wrong: at some point in the past i really believed its the truth and i thought all publications are some kind of gods gift, but i just never had that sparkle! do you?
the last time i attended a big assembly i didnt bother to get a copy of the new publication, but i had to go, because my wife wanted me to grab a copy. i should have take two dozens just to burn some WT money... ;D

Did you ACTUALLY do this?
by Frequent_Fader_Miles inas part of your "dedication and baptism" did you actually go to jehovah in prayer and "dedicate" your life to him prior to your baptism?
at the time when the elders were reviewing the "questions" with me, i hadn't a clue that i was supposed to do this until one of them asked directly.
i answered in the affirmative anyway ... wanting the incessant questioning to be over as quickly as possible.

Marcel
yeah, i did! i was 14!
to be exact: i did it more than one time. i always had not the "sacred" feeling i thought it would give me. i tried to bow down more and pray with more emotion. i guess it was at the very same time i had some doubts about the things written in the creation-book (the old one). one of my first doubts i ever had.
additionally when i was 14 i hadnt my hormones under control. i was abstinent (from myself) for 2 months and sinned again in the very same week as my baptism!!! i felt very sick when i sat there and listened to my baptism-talk because of my sins (like i felt sick my whole youth but only more). my sister gave me a tape with the talk recorded. i couldnt listen to it yet. its 11 years ago.
maybe i should burn it on a cd before it vanishes. it was a fault to do this back then, but its still a part of my life.
i took the decision to get baptized because i thought i "have" to. besides some minor doubts (which i blame on my human errors) i was a believer and the "i have to" and "i want to" feelings melted together. i didnt felt ready for it to be honest, but i thought: "if dont do it know i have to do it later". i was glad that it was over. my father told me afterwards that the elders were told that any child who grew up in the "truth" and didnt got baptized before 14 is probably spiritually unhealthy. i was right... i had to...
everyone was hugging me and was so happy. i didnt felt happy really. i felt sick and unhappy. because of my sins, my doubts. i hadnt that feeling that everyone else seemed to have.
the only good thing that happened was that the chicks at the assembly liked me more suddenly =) lol! -

Hi there!
I always wondered how all the facts about the 144.000 written in Revelation are discarded by JWs.
I would like to know how the WTS talks all these things away that doesnt fit their doctrine.(Revelation 7:4) . . .
And I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel:...(Revelation 14:1) . . .And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.
(Revelation 14:4) . . .These are the ones that did not defile themselves with women; in fact, they are virgins...
(1) -> Son of Israel - NOT of all nations
(2) -> Mount Zion is a earthly symbol and not a heavenly one
(3) -> virgin men, not deflowered women and menWhere comes that "spiritual Israel"-Doctrine from? What is Zion? Why does virgin dont mean virgin?
This aint a typical "WTS teaches BS"-post - i just want to know how JW see that. ive tried to look it up myself but i didnt found anything convincing (means: something that sounds logical to me) yet.
Thank You!
Marcel
