war on religion was very common in the whole history of humankind. even gods nation israel fought wars against other nations because of their different believes.
the war you mean (ban on all religions in the whole world) is going to happen soon in JW believe. its the last sign before gods war of armageddon. it could trigger civil wars and national wars troughout the world in my opinion.
actually i dont feel like its happening in the next years.
i dont see any power in the world whichs unity and power is high enough to speak out such a ban. i guess this is only possible in dictatorship. imagine a ban on religion in the united states...
nevertheless i think it WILL come one day. the bad influences of religion are visible. but i also think no ban will be successful... at least as long as the human mind doesnt change greatly in the future. nevertheless the jw doctrine says the bible only says that the politics seperate themselves from any religion and ban it. it does not say in will be effective as long as i know.
when its happening (in our time) it will be a hard time for many ex-jw, because it triggers that "and what if it is all right?"-feeling.

Ghosts and using God's name
by Quexinos inokay im just gonna ask my question because i'm curious.
i'm still not even sure if there are actual witnesses here or just people aruging with them (some people have too much free time) .
see lately i've been watching this show "a haunting" and a lot of the episodes are the same.

hi quexinos!
you suffer from the same problem as me... i dont know to quote either :D
one could do it with HTML tags, but thats to time consuming for me on every post...
maybe some nice person could shed some (new) light on posting in quotes?

Did the JWs conceal crucial info before your baptism
by greendawn infor those that became jws but weren't born in the cult, do you feel that before baptism the dubs withheld from you information that should have been revealed, things that if you were aware of you wouldn't become a jw in the first place, such as the heartless dfing policy.
perhaps focusing on the promise of paradise earth and eternal life makes us forget to search out possible negative issues and that's part of their trickery.

i was raised in the truth and knew everything i needed to know.
the only problem was: i was 14 when i got baptized.
this were my thoughts when i was 14:
- df'ing is righteous and loving
- being part of JW is completely voluntary (i really believed that even i knew what the penalty for it)
- my teenie-doubts about some parts of the genuity of the bible and the creation are caused by my bad knowledge
- it IS the truth
- my struggle with self-touching was caused by my imperfection and satan
- paranormal activity (which i never experienced in person) is the final proof that the jw are right
things i missed because of my age:
- what is sex? (i knew what it is... in theory)
- the possibility that humans can lie... even if my parents trust them for no reason.
- 1001 things i was too young for thinking about because of my limited experience

in jw opinion its not the *word* itself which makes demons flee. its god (or his angels) himself you scare the demons away. its like that:
demon haunts guy -> guy believes in jehovah -> guy is scared and shouts "jehovah!" or "jehovah help me!" -> god sees his faith and decides to help him -> god is much more powerful as all demons -> demon flees
i dont know whether demons really exist. i never experienced anything supernatural in full conscience (i have strange experiences as i was a kid, but it also can be my imagination).
if i had to make a decision i would say: ghosts, demons and things are the product of the human imagination and the brains poor ability to differ between real and unreal situations.
its an easy answer, but i cant know.
btw.: im an active JW with strong doubts. -

For Jehovah's WItnesses
by cultswatter inyou might think that the world is flat but give it a chance!.
as a jehovah's witness you must believe the following or be kicked out of the organization for apostacy!.
1. that the devils came down to earth and christ set up his new world government in 1914.

greendawn: thats wrong. current doctrine is that annointed *may* be resurrected instantly and even *may* help guiding JW from heaven. its said that we dont know but its possible.
the door to heaven was not closed in 1935. it was a doctrine in the past once, but currently there is no similar doctrine i know of. nevertheless its not seen as "common" if people are suddenly annointed today. they are carefully watched but since jw dont know how god appoints they are "allowed" to partake. current doctrine is the annointed are "sealed" but if a annointed sins or leaves the organisation god may get a new one ;) its a kind of weired but thats what ive been told lately. -

Any information please
by link incan anyone tell me what the jehovah,s witnesses currently believe regarding the date that cyrus destroyed the temple at jerusalem.
i asked a witness and they told me that they now believe that cyrus arrived in jerusalem in 607 bce but did not destroy the temple until 20 years later!!!!
this still makes a nonsense of 1914!!!.

as far as i know and im an active jw:
destroyed 607b.c. -

My first look at an 'apostate' site
by ThomasCovenant inseveral years ago when i first started looking at tinternet i was still reticent to look at anything that may be taken as 'apostate'.
so typing in 'jehovahs witnesses' was not for me just yet.
however one little belief of theirs had always troubled me.

Marcel
my first looks at apostates sites were not an eye opener. they just talked about nonsense things and about hateful lies. it was like "exactly" what the bible has warned of.
but i thought i cant judge all critics by a handful from a certain site. so i found honest and insight critics which were like my own thoughts. i think there are people who are so far from the JW away that a JW wouldnt believe anything because it sounds so strange to him.
for me the only way to see something is wrong was people who were like me. people who are still close to the jw but discusses doctrines instead of saying yes to them. -

Views of worldy folk as a witness
by fifi40 ini bring this subject up because personally i dont get it.. i have noticed that some posters use words such as 'evil' or 'stinking goats' to describe the view (either their own adopted view or that of the jw org) they had of worldly people whilst a jehovahs witness.. the reason i find this difficult to understand is because i never felt that way toward 'people of the world' whislt being a believer of of the teachings of the jw organisation.
and i didnt pick up on it being rammed down my throat by the org either.
now i wonder if i was ignorant of something, not paying enough attention or if it is just each individuals approach toward life that makes the difference.. what were your views of 'people of the world and why?.

i think most ex-witnesses feel about the whole story very emotional.
in fact the wts doesnt really teach we should hate anybody.
BUT:
- its taught that we should hate "the world"
- its taught that we should avoid worldy people (expection: service)
- its taught that we should avoid and put under emotionally pressure (for their own "good")
that implies the following thinking:
- all worldly people are dangerous to us... as long as they are not believing.
- we need to be very friendly to them because we need to convince and save them. they need to think we "love" the individual.
- you're completely fine as long as you say "yes" to anything. as soon as you say "no" it may becomes hard. for some people it isnt as hard as to others (depending on self-esteem and social dependance). so to the individual it may seem to be like throwed to the mud and spitted on with hate. shunned, avoided from family and friends, alone, marked with the "wrongdoer" sign (always not in right). just because he may changed his mind on a question noone can fully answer. and that all in the phase when the shunned is in a bad mood because of its own doubts about his acting and he would need the love of his loved ones. -

Do JW's still believe this?
by ctrx ini remember overhearing a discussion my parents had in the mid 1970's.
it was about who would be resurrected after armageddon.
supposedly, those who heard of "the truth" and rejected it were dead forever, but those who had never had a chance to hear it would be resurrected for a second chance to submit to jehovah/the watchtower society.. .
-
Marcel
i was raised in the 80s and 90s. i was told that ALL dead will be resurrected since all sins are forgiven in death. so even apostates and hitler (but some witnesses i know arent sure about that last one ;) he may sinned against the holy spirit).
ive heard about that "everyone who reject it would not be ressurrected" also, but i always thoughts it apostates thinking ;D i never knew it was common thinking sometime O_o

yeah, you're right. for one reason i did not see the double light problem. maybe god used his flashlight in the first day. when i go into my cellar i always say "let it be light" and switch my flashlight on. :-D
