  Searching For JWs/Dr. Laura's Advice (cheating with two topics :P)

  often, i find myself doing google searches for people who i went to kh with years and years ago.

  i try to find clues of what they're up to, search out the ones who were "weak in their faith", and try to see if they are still hanging on, or have "fallen away from the truth".

  i look for people my own age to find out what they're doing.

  Hey bbdogger,

  Welcome to JWD. I've been doing a little catchup, I've been busy wading through the Barbara Anderson CD on pedophilia in the JW's and have been a bit distracted by that.

  I just finished reading you other post, your story and just wanted to say Hi **waves**. I also find myself sometimes looking for a couple of people I grew up with. I didn't have a lot of friends in the BORG, but I did have 2 or 3 and after I left mentally around age 15, then physically at age 18 we lost touch. I really don't know why I look for these people, they were never my "friends" we were just thrown together by a mutual religion and most definately if they are still in they won't be the least bit interested in me.

  right as i lay down in bed, after the drama of the day.

  that's the most peaceful part of my day.

  Thanks oompa......youv'e just put a visual in my tiny little brain that I really didn't need!

  My favorite time of the day (during the week) is whatever time my last patient walks out the door, usually around 3:30pm and I get in my car and drive home, nice and peacefull. On the weekends early morning when I can roll over and wake up hubby for some early morning play time

  What exactly can I get disfellowshipped for?

  my husband and i have been inactive for almost 8 months.

  we haven't gone to a meeting and slowly our jw friends have stopped associating with us because we're "weak".

  at some point, we'll be celebrating holidays.

  Why not get a table top tree, the small one with the lights already on it? Does your mom come to your house to babysit?

  I agree with others, this year she won't remember any of it. Take lots of pictures so that when she's older she will be able to look back at her 1st christmas. I do christmas not for the religious meaning but because I wanted my kids to have a normal life to enjoy the holidays and for me to be able to have a little of the joy also that I missed being raised a JW. Never did my kids hear, "you don't have to wait for holidays, you can get gifts all year long", which by the way never happend!

  Do what is best for your family. My first christmas after leaving I went all out! Big tree, gifts for my son and hubby (boy friend at that time). My mom knew about it, she wasn't speaking to me but she was definately spying on me. She sent the elders around and I told them to get lost, if they ever came around again I was get'n a restraining order! I have no patience with the whole "Elder Authority" crap!

  I have no idea if they ever announced my name at any meeting and I really don't give a damn.

  A debate on childrens haircuts

  without giving my personal opinion i would like to ask the board, 'what is your view of children with mowhawk haircuts'.

  our family has an ongoing debate as to what is considered an acceptable hairstyle for boys age 5-8. please be unbiased reguards what you may think is my personal feeling.

  your input would be greatly appriciated.

  I don't personally think that a haircut is worth the battle. Especially if the parents are not making a fuss. Your son may have said that he didn't like it because he knew you didn't and didn't want to battle with you over it.

  I think the JW mentality is poking throught on this one, they are just kids not even teenagers yet. What are you going to do when they become teenagers and want to wear a certain style of clothes?

  Concentrate on loving your grandkids and being there for them rather than making demands on them. If they say "grandma, do you like my hair"? then say "no I don't like it much, but if it you like it it's ok with me"!

  There will be so many other obstacles and hurdles to get over as they get older. Let the parents make the decisions, you enjoy your grandkids and don't let what other people think, say or do influence your relationship with your grands.

  i stopped going to meetings over a year ago as i'm a lesbian and have finally accepted it.

  i was a witness for 22 years, since i was born.

  now i missed my friends at the hall at first, but now i have some amazing new friends that love me no matter what.

  Hi faundy welcome to JWD.

  I would ignore them. They have not authority over you, you don't have to answer to them for anything. Since you have no family to speak of in the BORG, tell the old geezers to kiss your A$$.
