my wife mentioned that it would be extremely difficult to fade because we live so close to everyone and with two small kids it would be difficult to avoid members of the cong or ignore them when they come to our door.

so i came up with an idea and i wanted to run it by you first to see if it has been thought of before and if you think it can work.. here it is.

Why bother with all that trouble? Just don't go anymore and if they ask tell them to mind their business. You are an adult you don't owe them any explanations.

you can say no or yes, and you are ok when others say no to you.. you have a strong sense of identity.

you respect yourself.. you expect reciprocity in a relationshipyou share responsibility and power.. you know when the problem is yours and when it belongs to someone else.. you share personal information gradually in a mutually sharing/trusting relationship.. you dont tolerate abuse or disrespect.. you know your own wants, needs and feelings.

to jehovah's witnesses: i commend your zeal for god, your desire for accurate knowledge and truth of the bible, your goals of drawing close to jehovah, and following and obeying christ's teachings, and your time spent studying the bible.

i think that some people deserve to be excommunicated, such as pedophiles.

but what about the tens of thousands of others that have their life wrenched out from under them by being disfellowshipped?.

and what about those that have a family member that died because of not receiving a blood transfusion?

I wouldn't say my life has been ruined by it. My child hood sucked to say the least, I feel I missed out on a lot of things most kids enjoy and I had a fanatical mother that felt it was the elders responsibility to discipline us instead of her and my dad.

It didn't ruin my life because I didn't allow it to. I left, I accepted the risk of loosing my family and the few people I called friends that were JW, it was worth it for my freedom.

I got married, had children, went to school got 2 degrees and I have a full, rewarding life, career and my children are happy, healthy adults without the burden of being JW's and that was my goal. Mission accomplished! To hell with those that couldn't accept me for me.
