JW's and Domestic Violence
by Mum init has been a long time since i left the jw organization.
it seems that families may be more fractured now than back then (1979).. recently i was reviewing some materials about domestic violence.
some of the traits of the abuser are traits also exhibited by the watchtower authorities -- specifically, never admitting a mistake, blaming the victim for her/his own abuse, limiting the victim's association with others, particularly family members or supportive resources.. it follows that jw males in particular are almost programmed to become abusive.

Crisis of Conscience/ISoCF Library Campaign
by AK - Jeff inmany libraries do not have copies yet, as it is far from 'mainstream' reading for most people.
i propose that we can all do a small deed that can/might be a huge favor to our former 'brethren' in the 'truth'.
check with the local library, see if they have the books on the shelves.

Good idea!!! When I was in search for this book my local libraries did not have it either. The did an inter library loan from another city in my area, but this took 2 months.
I will check with my local library to see what their policy is.

Who does the prodigal son scripture apply to?

Welcome Heather,
Do you really think you could go back just for your family?? What about what makes you happy? In my experience (not just with JW's) but whenever I've done something that I really didn't want to do just to please someone else or have their approval it's made me a very unhappy person.
No one can tell you what to do, just make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. I can only imagine how you must feel not being able to have a relationship with your family and to see your nieces and not be able to hold them or play with them, but do you really want to be around people who judge you because of a difference of opinion?
No one should have to loose their family and friends just because they don't want or don't agree with a particular religion, but as we all know this is the way of JW's, they think they can guilt you into coming back and that they are doing this for your own good.
It's really sad, and I wish you didn't have to go through this!

Wife willing to leave the DC early on Sunday.

so here it is.. we had booked an airline to go to the 3-day convention this summer.. dc's for many foreign languages are held in jersey city, nj.

If I were you I'd just take the train to NYC, by the time you rent the car, buy gas, pay tolls, find and pay for parking, not to mention the hassel and headache of traffic, you will wish you had taken the train. IMHO from a former NJ girl!!!
Maybe the wife can catch a ride with some jdub's and then hang out with you in the evening for some real fun.

why did they build all those new buildings up in bethel costed millions first of i wanna know how they can afford i thought they were a none profit so how you end up with millions ?
how can they afford to pay the superentendents (rent them cars , pay there meals , lodging) where does this money come from rent stadiums for assembly's i wana know why those bigshots in bethel drive nice cars when jesus walked and the one time he rode a mule not a horse a mule !

What "Type" of "Apostate" Are You? Conservative, Liberal or In The Center?
by minimus insome are very much out there in trying to bring the watchtower down.
some will go to extreme measures to see to it that everyone knows how wrong the witnesses are.
others are less demonstrative and more liberal as to their approach and of course there are certain ones that are pretty much in the middle...... where are you??

I would like to forget that I was ever involved in the JW r
eligioncult, but I can't, so I guess I'm center. I leave them alone as long as they leave me alone. When they start talking about the end is near, I shut them up quick, fast and in a hurry!!I think the JW's are the one who are corrupt, making life hell for people, how can you have faith in a god that is threating to kill inocent babies, children, people in general????!!!! Hell, even JW's aren't guarenteed survival of the BIG A.
