Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?

i have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.

there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

That being said I am often accused of spoiling my children because I find the concept of buying presents all year round quite hard for non-JWs to take on board, there is definitely a 'Presents are only for christmas or birthdays' so i find my non-JW family get me no presents at all but ones that used to be JW's or still are do make an effort to buy presents outside of the allowed set events for them. One thing you do noticei s that as you say its not just the children that need set markers to do things by but adults too.

Wow that sounds like it's straight out of the WT. That is the same thing my mom used to tell us, "worldly kids only get presents on their birthday and christman, you get them all year". Well that's Bull$hite, I brought my kids things all the time and everyone I know does the same thing. As a JW my parents were the biggest liars because we didn't get things all the time nor did we get things on holidays.

Didn't you guys have this conversation with Renaii last year around this time? Feels awefully familliar, I think she trying to get in her Christmas preaching time early so she can celebrate the holidays with no worries

police will tell you one time of the year they dread is christmas more deaths happen then than any other time from overindulgence, hospitals dread it for similar reasons,

Uh, I've been a nurse for over 20 years and the police and the ER don't say this about christmas. They do say it about a full moon, 4th of July, St. Patricks Day and New Years. Christmas is usuall pretty damn slow.

there are a lot of dumb organization men.

gb losch seems to be the top dog for dumbness.. in the local halls i've seen and heard many dumb elders open their mouths.. one elder had a fondness for bible prophecy and watchtower chronology.

he always speculated on what the "watchtower really means" about a statement in print.

Being told by an elder "little sister nj, just think you will never have to go to high school in this old system. You probably won't even get to middle school" I was in Kindergarten. Well I managed to finish high school, college, get married have kids and now my kids are in college!

For the most part once we are out of our teens stuffed toys are off the list How about some nice flowers, candlelight dinner for two, bottle of wine? You know adult stuff.

Well I've never met BTS in person so I can't tell you how big his feet are. But, I do know what they say about little feet!

BTS is just trying very hard to defend Princess Sarah, poor thing I don't know how he's going to deal with it come November and Obama/Biden wins the election.

report child abuse?.

here in canada, the month of october is child abuse awareness month.

our local news station reported a yell off about abuse: people had to yell a sentence ("stop child abuse" or some other comment appropriate to the issue) into a decibel reader to see how loudly people could yell their message.. so i got to wondering, how many of you have called the police if you even thought about calling on the police so they could make sure a child was ok or needed help.. i've done it at least three times - although for two of them i didn't know if children were involved.. the first was an argument i could hear several houses away.

Yes, a number of times. Being a nurse I worked in a peds office, this little girl she was about 5 and her brothers twins they were infants. I knew the mother was being abused she always had bruises when she came in with the kids.

One day the mom asked if I could keep an eye on the kids while she ran to the bathroom. As soon as she was out of sight, the little girl got really close to me (I was bent over playing with the babies) and she whispered to me "daddy locks me in the closet and ties my hands together". The look on her face, OMG I knew immediately that she was also being abused. She didn't have any bruises on her wrists, when the doctor asked her about her hands being tied she said he put moms pads on first (sanitary pads, to keep her wrist from bruising) I told the Physician that they were seeing and he confronted the mother, she of course denied it as always. So I (we) called CPS.

This poor little girl had so many bruises in various stages of healing that I was afraid to touch her. All 3 kids were put into foster homes that day, unfortunately in 3 separate homes. They didn't even have the comfort of being together. So sad!

I cried that night.
