First Time Post - Long time reader
by Samaritan At the Well intoday is my first post on jwd, i was one of jehovahs witness for almost 50 years of my life, i was born into the religion.
i was baptized at a young age and once i got married i was a very spiritual woman as they would call me.
my husband and i served as full time pioneers, we traveled abroad and went to international conventions, did some special pioneer service in other states in the us.

Congregation that have sent in money!
by DwainBowman inin the past week, i have heard from a number of friends scattered all over the place.
a number of them are very upset over the congregation being required, to send in all monies over $4,000.
a number of these were kh's that were saving to buy land, and or build new kh's.

I left over 7 yrs ago. Even when I was still in and an elder, I did not donate a dime to ANY funds, local or WT. Instead, I would buy things for our local hall I knew we needed, mulch, landscape pavers, cleaning supplies, TP, etc. That way I KNEW what it was for.

by sir82 inthis week's service meeting, the whole 30 minutes, is devoted to the "new songs" foisted upon jws.. note this from paragraph 8 of the km article that is to be considered:.
we will conclude our meeting today with the new song entitled the kingdom is in placelet it come!
this song, which was featured at the recent annual meeting, was specially composed to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the kingdom.. .

Sam Herd to speak at Orangeburg, SC assemblies Jan. 17-18
by sir82 ini just heard a fairly reliable rumor that sam herd will be the "guest bethel speaker" at the circuit assemblies at the orangeburg sc assembly hall on january 17-18. .
orangeburg is about halfway between columbia & charleston, assembly hall is right off i-26.. just in case any of y'all want to be enlightened.

I knew the Herds before he became GB, while he was a DO in the US midwest. I partly blame him and his wife for "encouraging" me to apply for and attend MTS. She was funny but tough old bird. He was full of himself, and is the token black guy on the GB.

No. My JW mom says she won't have a KH funeral or any at all. My stepdad is not a JW, and my 2 brothers and I are not dubs either, so no pressure.
Maybe the local yokels will have one on their own, but I doubt it, my mom hasn't lived in her area long enough to have deep roots.

life after the wtbts

I come here from time to time, see what BS my JW mom (43 years in and counting) is being fed.
I like to read of others journeys out, knowing I am not alone.
I read JWD in bed on the tablet so it's more tedious to post and correct inevitable tablet-driven typos.

Funny, I seem to remember the ass hall in st louis was told they could NOT use the open bible logo from the "Christian Congregation" on their sign, and all congos told not to use it.

by The Searcher inmy apologies if this topic has previously been spotlighted.. the following is a portion of the the recent money-grabbing letter from jw.org.
it's on page 4 - one of the three pages which only the elders were allowed to read.. "surplus funds: is it necessary to save congregation funds for future construction or major renovation projects?
what should be done with excess congregation funds that are currently being held or that may accumulate in the future?

Here is how you keep from sending WT "excess" money: DON'T PUT IT IN THE CONGO ACCOUNT UNTIL NEEDED LOCALLY. CO can't take what he can't see.
And if you are a signatory and won't cooperate, you won't be a signatory. lol
