i just read this article about dave ramsey and his company ramsey solutions (formerly lampo group).

reading about him and his board, made me think of jehovah's witnesses and the governing body (aka the hateful eight).

i used to like him, listened or watched his show, even visited his new hq in nashville briefly.

I just read this article about Dave Ramsey and his company Ramsey Solutions (formerly Lampo Group). Reading about him and his board, made me think of Jehovah's Witnesses and the Governing Body (aka The Hateful Eight). I used to like him, listened or watched his show, even visited his new HQ in Nashville briefly.

While I have used some of his financial advice, I never drank the Kool Aid. His advice is not new or original, by his own admittance. He just markets the hell out of it.

What happened to some of his employees but not one of his "Ramsey Personalities" reminds me of the cult of JW when poor schmuck were hauled to a JC, but the star elder was slapped on the wrist but on a circuit assembly part months later.

Dave Ramsey...you are a creep. Sorry I ever recommended you and your Borganization. Same for JW. I have something special to say to Ramsey, Lett, and Herd if our paths ever cross. LOL

Havent gone to the kingdom hall in ten years but may have to go back...

made a big mistake of talking about being raised as a jehovah's witness to some old friends and family.

people have told me that i am still a jws even though i've never been baptized.

i'm in school for social services, dealing with student loan debt, and a lot of other debt.

You need professional help. Take it from someone who was raised JW, was a pioneer, elder, MTS grad, blah blah....stayed in until age 40, THERE IS A LIFE OUTSIDE JW.

The JW will NOT be there to help you. First you have to help yourself. Find some boots, then you CAN pull YOURSELF up by the bootstraps.

I'm sorry if I sound a bit harsh. It took therapy, a small group of non JW friends, and a new attitude. You know what? It was hard, but I have a non JW wife, adopted son, a career, an education, savings, a house.. All in 14 years since walking away.

You will regret going back and being codependent. Trust me and others here. We may not walk in your shoes, but we have walked the path ahead of you. Take care.

Collapse of JW Org - Possibly on the Horizon?

this topics get a great deal of discussion here.

what i find interesting is even some of my pimi family is embracing the reality that all is not well with jw.org and that many current jws are just going through the motions due to not having a good way out of the org.

wondering what could realistically lead to the collapse of jw.org in the not distant future?

My mom was baptized in 1970, so she has a half century invested. She was talking today about her "Bible study" with the 17 yr old granddaughter of her close friend. Apparently g'ma threatened/bullied/harassed the granddaughter into starting back up. My mom had studied with her years ago as a little kid. Teen was not even awake when my mom arrived today, but "something" happened for my mom to "count her time."

All my mom has is me (her former shing star elder/pioneer/MTS grad), and my younger never dunked brother if she left the Borg, and a few other non JW relatives that are old and far away. After my step-dad died in the spring, she is by herself in podunk town in the southern US. Without her JW social structure, she has nobody there.

So do I want the Borg to crash and burn? Yep. But not until after she is gone. Or if she wakes up on her own. At least she still has a relationship with me.

I think I am weary of watching two septugenarians, one a multi-bankrupt businessman, the other in government far too long. I am voting third party, not that it matters where I live. Red county, blue state.

No good choices in any recent election. Just my opinion.

Finding a mate

so here i am 44 yr old divorced and free to remarry jw sister....first time single since i was 19. but guess what no single brothers in my area.

i’ve tried those stupid jw dating sites and still no luck.

oh yes there are tons of single brothers, but guess what...they all expect a hot barbie to come running into their life.

"I still miss it Dad" My 41 Year Son Admitted

on the 18th of september i turned in my disassociation letter in to the tigard congregation, 19 years ago.. my son turned in his letter in november 2001, 19 years ago shortly after me.

he was 21 years old.. two days ago we were working together on a wrap for his a/c unit on his bus.. out of blue, he says "i still miss it dad.

not the religion.

I have ONE friend who, even after I left JW, still is my friend. He was my best man in my wedding (to a Catholic, but by a non denominational preacher friend) in 2011, 4 years after I walked away. Recently I have had issues with a hopefully soon to be former coworker. My friend told me he would, at his expense, fly back from Florida to the midwest if I needed a character reference.in court. THAT is a true friend.

I have my JW 76 year old mom who still cares deeply for me and is coming to visit me and my non JW wife next month. Even if I were DF, I think she would not shun me.

I, too, miss my old friends, but like any situation (i.e., work, school, church, etc.), these often end up as situational friends. Over time, MOST end up fading away because we don't see them regularly once we aren't around them.

I think Zoom and COVID will break up friendships at local Kingdom Halls. Or, like my mom, will strengthen a few select friends.

Witness reaching out to me after 20+ years...

a few weeks ago; a witness couple from the midwest reached out to me after 25+ years.

they said they were doing a letter writing campaign and decided to reach out to me… they called on my personal cell phone, which was a little surprising.

a few days ago, a couple that i knew from over 40 years ago, sent me a text, again to my personal cell phone.. i assume that they just googled my name to get the personal info.

They don't bother Mister Snakes anymore. Nope, not DF. INACTIVE since August 2007....QUIET APOSTATE since long before that while still an elder......if they KNEW my true feelings. LOL

However, the local Dubs have been told to steer clear. I hear from a few occasionally, but rare and brief....what do we have to talk about?

"The Old Days" when I was a miserable, single, renting, uneducated regular pioneer elder, MTS graduate with a corncob up his ass...OR..

...the reasonably happy, married (to a good Catholic woman), with a grown son (my wife's son, who I adopted at 16...now 19), and a stepdaughter, homeowner, career-minded, college educated independent thinking MAN?

JWs are afraid of me. They won't be "reaching out" to me anytime soon.

And my 76 year old JW mom loves me unconditionally....

Or in our town, the KH that was sold in 93 was turned into a day care for children....so what was once a building housing adults with child-like minds is now a building housing children who don't mind.
