Exposing one's identity. When?

i've been toying with the idea of just coming out and posting my name and location as an attempt to be available to locals that secretly browse the forum that have known me for up to 25 years.

( "reaching out", so to speak ).

i'm not da'd or df'd, so this most certainly could end in a dramatic confrontation.

"Next"? LOL, ummm they will report back to the COBOE and he will call the CO, the CO will call Service Dept. and/or Legal at WT Corp. If Legal Dept. opinion prevails, the local elders will be told to back off because of the cops. Service Dept. will advise a "Marking Talk" be given as a Local Needs part, and your family will be persona non grata, but no DF. Some will shun, some won't. You want a clean break? DA letter and/or move. Or, do as I did, several well placed implied threats and gossip spread the word... and the locals don't bother ol' eccentric Brother Snakes. LOL

Can You Really Become Inactive Instead of DA'ing and Keep Your Family

oz branch coordinator terrence o'brien opined a number of times at about 1:00:00 until about 1:15:00 of his testimony, that a dub does not need to da, they can become "inactive.".

i sent our beloved angus stewart my personal experience, as well as observations about official borg teachings.

I have been "inactive" since 07, but I consider myself no longer a dub. I was recently invited by my last JW friend to his wedding. As it was at a banquet center not a kh, my wife and I went. An elder gave the awful InfoTalk Ceremony. Normally bad, this elder rambled terribly. Another elder, the former PO, now 88, quietly whispered in my ear about coming back and coming by to see me....and bring the Return booklet. That was Aug 2, still waiting. Other than my friend who got married (he was best man at my non-JW wedding), no other JW "friends" contact me. My JW mom still talks to me, but rarely calls.

So no..Snakes ain't DA/DF, but I am as good as dead to them all, push comes to shove.

Jw kids setting off fire alarms in hotels

a friend of mine is staying at a hotel next to one of the big convention sites this weekend.

yesterday she tells me one of the hotels had to be evacuated and the fire brigade called when the fire alarm went off.. it turned out to be a bunch of jw kids having a prank.

she had been speaking to the hotel manager who told her that this happens every year and only when the jw's come to stay!.

Hot Topic threads Pinned by a Moderator-Suggestion

threads that are a "hot topic" should have the option of being pinned by a moderator.

those who are interested, can suggest to a moderator that the subject be pinned.

if a "hot topic" is not pinned, it is lost within a few hours.. most will go to page 1 or 2 (not many more pages) to see the latest topics.. is having a subject pinned an option for this database?.

Please DON'T. Currently the "Hot Topic(s) is/are the RC Hearings, so because of increased interest, these rise to the top of the Latest column sort, kind of a "pinned by default" option.

IMO, we don't need another layer of Mod involvement, they have enough to do around the forum.

Just skip to page 3 or 4 or use the home page to look by topic area. JUST a thought.

AUSTRALIA - All large JW Regional Conventions cancelled for 2015

now we know why the governing body of jehovah's witnesses cancelled all the major regional conventions of jehovah's witnesses for 2015 and are only holding smaller conventions at the jw assembly halls.

interestingly the first round of regional conventions are due this weekend in the jw assembly halls in sydney (new south wales), melbourne (victoria), and brisbane (queensland).

One thing I always looked forward to was meeting and socializing with a wider variety of fellow witnesses at the DCs. IF this becomes a trend, then it will mean an ever shrinking pool for single people to choose JW marriage mates from. And since we were always encouraged to attend ones ASSIGNED convention, what do we think will happen to the last stragglers of younger witnesses left? Yep, they will find SOMEONE, just not a fellow dub.

Good, let the young ones leave in droves. Fu#k WT.

my wife and i planned on fading but the elders now want a shepherding call and we are just done.

i know that many play the game to try to stay in, but i'm not a game player and neither is my wife.

our families already shun us because we reached out to a disfellowshipped family member.

Get i notarized, then there is no "doubt" that it was YOU that sent it. Send it to WT HQ Registered Mail...to let YOU know they got it From there, let them figure out where your Publisher Card is located. DF, not DF...announced, not announced.... after you send the letter , who gives a $hit what they think.

yep... i think that is the best way to describe where i am at in life right now.

if you have read my past posts (mostly in the private section) you know some of my history as a life-long (now former) witness.. i have been away from the jw religion, for all intents and purposes, since dec. 06, though it was not until sept 07 that i stopped attending meetings.

So I live in a town of <29,000. There are 2 congos here. Until 91 I was in one then the ither until 02. We did street witnessing, but as you can imagine, not much foott traffic. I finally seen two people with a cart in an unusual location. I think was the COBOE and his wife, both pioneers. Check out the location on Google Street View

so my wife and i went to th yesterday.

the chain started opening stores in the st. louis, mo area about a month ago.

by now the bugs should be worked out.

Wtwizard: I agree with you about supporting local. TH is not near where we live, we were shopping nearby, had heard on the news about them, and thought we'd try it. We have several locally owned small bakeries in our town we prefer. We make our own coffee (usually Trader Joe....ironically owned by Aldi), sometimes from a local roaster.

Heaven: my wife will probably call today, 800# no answer on Saturday. The TH we went to had the faux fireplace, we sat in the chairs, but we moved to a table.

WC: panera (here called St. Louis Bread Co.) has better pastries. The best thing I got at Bread Co. is my wife. She worked there when I first asked her out on a date. Oh yeah, TODAY JULY 27 is our 4th wedding anniversary. LOL
