he says he understands differently: they will not be destroyed when the babylon the great will be destroyed but they will be destroyed in armageddon.

I'm in the minority opinion on here, but I believe this is actually New Light.

If you look at the Simplified Edition of this article, it says that it's unlikely that many from Babylon would repent and be saved, and we shouldn't expect many to do so.

But this is definitely New Light, with them saying there is the POSSIBILITY to repent after the Tribulation starts.

The Old Light was that the Door of the Ark closed at the Outbreak of the Tribulation and all not inside the Organization at that moment were doomed.

The Governing Body was Appointed in 1971, NOT 1919

They are saying they didn't realize that humans appointing members of the governing body instead of Jesus was wrong until 1971.

It also says Jesus appoints Governing Body members by holy spirit NOT by Watchtower people voting on them.

This means that any governing body that existed BEFORE 1971 was Appointed by HUMANS not by Jesus.

These questions were answered at the annual meeting held on October 1, 1971. On that occasion, one of the speakers pointed out that the governing body of “the faithful and discreet slave” preceded the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania by hundreds of years. (Matthew 24:45-47) A governing bodywas formed at Pentecost of 33 C.E., more than 18 centuries before the Pennsylvania corporation came into existence. At first, the governing body consisted of, not 7 men, but 12 apostles. Evidently, its number was enlarged later, for “the apostles and older men in Jerusalem” were taking the lead.—Acts 15:2.

In 1971 the same speaker explained that the members of the Watch Tower Society could not vote in the members of the anointed GoverningBody. Why? “Because,” he said, “the governing body of the ‘slave’ class is not appointed by any man. It is appointed by . . . Jesus Christ, the Head of the true Christian congregation and the Lord and Master of the ‘faithful and discreet slave’ class.” Clearly, then, the members of the Governing Body cannot be voted into office by the membership of any legal corporation.

Did JESUS Choose a MANMADE RELIGION?

if jesus was enthroned in 1914, and if he inspected all of the earth's religions in 1919, choosing the wtbts as his, then wasn't he choosing a religion that was manmade?

if he didn't choose it until 1919, then what was the watchtower organization in 1918 or, for that matter, in 1914?

and what happened to the church jesus organized when he said anciently, "i will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it"?.

If Jesus didn't appoint the Slave until 1919, and He didn't start inspecting the different Christians on earth until 1914, then that means the Watchtower Society before 1919 (or definitely before 1914) was NOT directed by Jesus or Jehovah.

The Society before 1914 was MAN-MADE just like every other church (according to the Society).

And according to two talks given by David Splane on tv.jw.org, the early Society misunderstood the Bible just like the churches did, and Charles Taze Russell was deeply into Pyramidology, and the Society misunderstood all the Types / Antitypes.

It does sound like their latest doctrine is this:

* The Governing Body, since 1919, is the Faithful Slave.

* The Governing Body existed in the First Century but was not the Faithful Slave.

* But, the Governing Body didn't even really exist until around 1971. Before that, the President of the Society had all the power.

* So, was the Faithful Slave actually appointed in 1971 instead of 1919?

Questions About JW Theology After Watching the Video:

If Jesus prophesied that He would be with His disciples all the days until the conclusion of this system of things (Matthew 28:20) and that His congregation would never be overpowered (Matthew 16:18), then how could true Christians vanish for 1900 years?
Since, as David Splane says, God does not condemn churches or Christians for misunderstanding the Bible, but only for having a bad attitude toward the Bible or toward the preaching work, does this mean that many people in the churches during those 1900 years (or even today) may have a good attitude, even though they misunderstand the Bible?
What specific attitudes among church members would be considered "good" or "bad" by God?
What were the "good" attitudes displayed by Charles Taze Russell or Joseph Rutherford, which caused God to anoint or select them for special privileges over the other church members?
David Splane says that God would not approve of Christian groups who have severe divisions, but what exactly is a "severe division," and hasn't the Society experienced these "severe divisions" in the past?
If God's number one priority is glorifying His Name, why would He allow His Name to be hidden for 1900 years?
If God wants to save all people with the truth, then why would He allow 1900 years of ignorance and darkness?
Did God view those Catholics as having a "good" attitude -- the Catholics whom David Splane said were obeying the Great Commission and preaching to other nations?
David Splane said we know God will make sure that good-hearted people receive an opportunity, but this doesn't mean we should slack off on our urgency in preaching. But how does this work? If no one went out preaching, then how would God make sure the good-hearted people receive the Good News Message?
If God is going to resurrect all the good-hearted people from all time periods, even if they were ignorant of the truth, then why do we need to preach to people? What's the purpose?
