the dress code that the society imposes on the women has been a thorn in my side ( manner of speaking).
theses old men dictate how a women should dress and i do mean "a dress".
i can remember when i lived in connecticut and the temp would be in single digits and when it came time for field service you must put on that dress.
i recall mega pioneer sisters wearing jersye track suit bottoms tucked into thier long boots, covered by long 'ministry' coats.
they never semed to get spoken to about this.
And yes, I'd feel far more comfortable in a trouser suit at any time than wearing a flouncy skirt.

Soz, I'll start again;
IMHO; he isn't there and doesnt care. Why else would children.. and adults be starving in foriegn lands.. why else would religous extremeists be blowing up their own kith and kin, why else would families abandon they're own in the name of god, why else would decent hard working people suffer emotionally because they made mistakes in life.
Normal human beings forgive, forget and dont judge.
AGAIN; IMHO religion is wrong.

after an informal poll in my congregation (and many awkward responses) i found out that almost nobody had read the whole bible ever, not even the elders (surprise!).
brothers and sisters with 20, 30, 40 and 50 years as jws don't know what the bible says.
so, if god decides that a test is coming, will they pass it?

as i understand it, drinking in the uk is not as stigmatized as it is in the us.
going to the pub after the sunday meeting is on a par with going to the all-you-can-eat chinese buffet over here in the us.. so, if a person has real problems with drinking, and asks for help, how do the elders handle this?
if they themselves tipple overmuch, how can they be unbiased in rendering judicial matters in this regard?.
If you admit you have a problem, they'll be after you.
Funnily enough, on one of my final discussions with one of our local elders, I was talking privatley with him in his lounge, explaining the issues I was having, and I also mentioned that I was struggling with a drink issue.
Upon my departure, he and his wife were seeing me out of his home, and she said, and I quote...'call anytime, if i"m not drunk'.
That elder then persued me for a formal 2 elder visit a month later about my drinking.
I DA'd. Hypocrites they are!

well it looks like this site is a real melting pot, a broad spectrum of views and beliefs.
for sure there are many disaffected ex jws.

i went to my gp today.
i go there quite often since he's also my parent's doctor and i bring them to all their appointments.. i take my dad there at least once a month for blood work since he is on blood thinners, so i'm very familiar with the lady who draws blood.. today i had to have blood drawn myself, and the lady inquired about my parents.
she asked if they had had a nice christmas.

I actually find her reaction completely unprofessional! She's there to 'nurse'! Its terrible that she's expressing such strong religious beliefes to here patients!

Having spent a day chilling out with my husband and kids, done the usual gifts for the children, my aunty, uncle and cousin... who I have only just got back in touch with via the internet ((( satans web!!)))), called round at lunchtime. It was so wonderfull to see them! (((XX)))
Guys, we've all got our issues going on here, but I know that we have a massive affinity with eachother, and we understand what its like to be FULL of doubts after years of living in the religion, and subsequently ostrasiced for expressing those doubts.
I think your all absolutley brilliant, and turely appreciate that with this board I have a place to come and vent when I need to.
I send my sincere and kindest wishes to you all. Have a peacefull day and enjoy celebrating christmas in whatever way it means to you.

after all, everyone has a right to there own own privacy on such days.
Agree, I never did Xmas day ministry coz I thought it was wrong to disturb people on this most special Family day.
