This is very fascinating stuff. Plus, it is just one more nail in the coffin of the Dubs deluded view of history and pre-history.

Hey oomps,
It'll be interesting to see how the generation debacle plays out over the coming 12 to 36 months. Maybe a repeat of the post-1975 exodus???
Cheers,
Alex

Stay or leave your spouse after leaving JWs - Do you have regrets?
by Awakened at Gilead ini am in a situation that many of you have faced... whether to stay with my spouse or not after having learned the falsehood of the org.. my wife is diehard witness who gets upset whenever i talk about the org negatively.
she is not happy that i am on jwd... in fact the other day she picked up the keyboard and wanted to throw it accros the room or bash me with it when she saw i was on jwd... she is also very upset about me making friends with "apostates" and worldly people, and told me never to bring them to our home!
this concerns me, since i am not going to have any friends in the org, and i need at least a few friendships...she doesn't want me to talk to the friends in the cong about my decision so that i don't share my doubts.

My ex and I split up. She was such a hardcore Dub with a hardcore Dub family that it would have been futile to make it work and I think both of us realized that.
The thing is, what do you talk about or do together once that rift is there. If you are socially conscious and want to be politically engaged, you know whrere that conversation is going. If you want to entertain thoughts about science, evolution, and sociology it's the same story.
I will always have love in my heart for my ex, but I am not sorry we split up. We are both much happier now. I could no longer take the Borg stifling my need to learn and pursue education, but my ex was content with the mental stagnation so there would have been an ever widening rift had we stayed together.
Just a few thoughts. Good luck...I know it's a rough road, any way you travel it.

WHEN DO JWS BELIEVE NATIVE AMERICANS CAME TO AMERICA?
by badboy inrecent discoveries indicate native american were present from 14,300 years ago.. what do jws make of that?.
-
Alpaca
You guys!!!!!
You ask such silly questions. Don't you know that after the flood humans repopulated the earth and that the Native Americans somehow got here (but we don't need science to explain how)? Just accept what the GB tells you and everything else will be okay.
OKAY?

Soooo Chickpea,
Did you hear the one about the proctologist who reached for the pen in his shirt pocket so that he could write a prescription?
He pulled out a rectal thermometer and said, "I wonder which asshole has my pen?"
Just thought I would share that with ya'...

Coming to a KH near you...the generation/new light WT
by Mickey mouse innext weekend congregations around the world will be studying the wt article on the new definition of a "generation".. i would think there will be an epidemic of cognitive dissonance.
this must be the first time there has been a change of doctrine on a singular topic twice in 13 years.
for those still in like me, use the opportunity to get your partner thinking..

Outnfree:
The Borg's reasoning on the statistics for the anointed are a great example of voodoo math.
I can't remember if it is the Bible or one of the 1st Century secular writers that commented about the Christians that 'they filled the whole world with their teachings." If that was the case and Christianity spread throughout the Roman Empire, it is ludicrous to think that in the 1900 years, prior to the past century, there were less than 144 K Christians. I mean, come on, are you kidding??? It's a joke.
The Borg's leadership are so out of touch with reality and sanity that they just spew this sewage without any forethought or reasoning. It's not surprising though...after all these guys really believe they have the direct hot-line to heaven itself. They are lunatics.

Well, I've been enjoying the professional student lifestyle for the last 9 1/2 years and it's been great.
I am almost finished with my 2 advanced degrees and am actively looking for a job as a geologist. I always enjoyed playing in the dirt when I was a kid and I am getting ready to be paid to play in the dirt.
Life is great!!!
Cheers to all,

by WTWizard inthe watchtower society has repeatedly said that jesus and satan have nothing in common.

Rapunzel,
Thanks for your comments. There are so many areas of my formal education that are deficient. From which discipline does the idea of an archaeology of knowledge come from? Who first advanced the theory?
Have you read Karen Armstrong's, "History of God" ???
Cheers,

How many marriages has the WT busted up?
by dinah injust been clickin' around the past few weeks.. how many marriages have been ruined by the wt?
how many were doomed from "i do" by the wt.
it seems that love is so conditional, they should add it in the vows-----forsaking all others but not the wt.. and then what about those few whom god (elders) shine on who can get away with adultery and make the other person look guilty?

Yup!!!
The Borg was a huge contributor to my marriage breaking up. My ex was raised in the "Troof." She was a virgin when we got married, so we never had a chance prior to marriage to test things out to see if we were sexually compatible. As it turned out we were totally sexually mismatched. I think that being raised in the Borg probably ingrained her with the idea that sex was bad and not something that should happen naturally and spontaneously between a man and a woman.
My joke about it is:
She didn't believe in sex before marriage....and marriage didn't change her mind.
We had sex only infrequently and it was unbelievably frustrating because she was drop-dead gorgeous. I hung in there for 21 years with the religion and the marriage, but it finally reached a point where I couldn't take it anymore and I bailed on the marriage and the Borg (for many other reasons). The marriage was the only reason I didn't bail sooner on the Borg.
The Borg's policy of dictating bedroom laws didn't help either. Their prohibition of oral sex is just so bizarre. It makes you wonder what the GB's thought / discussion process is for this kind of stuff.
The good news is that I've been out for 11 years and I just got engaged to a great woman who has absolutely no sexual hang-ups.
Yay for me!!!!
