  GB sidles out of 1919 and puts 1914 in the bin. (WT study.)!!

  has anybody noticed in many recent watchtowers that christ is now said to have "turned his attention to the earth in 1914.".

  unlike the 60's they do not say christ "came" in 1914. the "proclaimers book " p137 says the bible students came to discern that "christ did not return, (even invisibly), in 1914.".

  the way is now paved.

  THIS IS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This article could be the catalyst for all of the disappointed old timers to take a step back and say, "Whoa....."

  I was convinced, before I left the BORG in 1997, that there was a real feeling of discontent among those who had pinned their hopes on the BORG's explanation of the 1914 generation and who also lived through the 1975 debacle. Do you remember how the BORG always used to quote the scripture (Psalms or Proverbs???) that 'expectation postponed, makes the heart grow sick' ??? This is going to come back to bite them in the ass.

  folks are about as happy as they decide to be.. looking on the bright side of life gives you more of a foothold when things go awry.

  nurturing hope builds a foundation for you which enables you to save for tomorrow and build toward the future and hang on when things get tough.. people dig their own graves when they become pessimists.

  All excellent points. The Dub mentality of constantly dwelling on what is wrong with the world ends up engulfing their thinking to the point that they cannot see anything positive.

  It's no wonder that so many of them are clinically depressed.

  They deprive themselves of everything that contributes to psychological health -- no future hopes for a good life unless Armageddon happens, no food for the mind with higher education, no decent jobs that allow Dubs to provide properly for their families, no freedom to think for themselves about anything, no prudent planning for retirement because it would show a lack of faith in the nearness of the end.

  OMG they are really pathetic human beings.

  Good points.

  How about this -- the government can keep track of a single cow and where every single hamburger from that cow ends up but they can't figure out how to make sure that our voting system is secure and tamper proof.

  i heard that they are planning to cut meetings down to twice a week and the book study will become part of the school and service meeting...any one else hear about this?.

  The fact that you did not know about the change of meeting of arrangements is a good sign -- it means you're not going to meetings.

  Also to be recycling was showing we didnt have faith that the end was near.

  That's a new view on me. Was that the company line or just some loose cannon spouting off? Granted, I have been out for almost 11 years and haven't read any of the literature or stepped foot into a KH, but the official view was always that respecting the earth and the resources was the proper thing to do.
