Incubus--Drive was out at just the right time with words like: would you chose water over wine?, waiver by chance to be one of the hive, and when I drive myself, my light is found...great stuff.

How do you feel about funerals?....would you want one?
by restrangled ini find funerals and wakes morbid and horribley depressing for all involved.
i just recently attented a celebration of someone's life, after their death.
it was wonderful.

It might sound depressing but I don't want a funeral or a wake...I even told my brother not to even put it in the paper if at all possible. Since I have been DFed there wouldn't be anyone there anyway and the expense wouldn't be necessary. I have a small immediate family, hardly any relatives. I gave so much of my life to the organization, that the write-up in the paper would look ridiculous.

I get more offended than others when I feel that I am being controlled or told what I can do or can't do. I tend to assume I am wrong whenever a problem comes up. These feelings are related to my JW experiences, along with an ability to easily recognise propaganda.

This WT article makes me mad.... this is evil
by dawg init's bad enought that young people in the wt have to sell magizines, risk shunning when they find out the truth about the gb... but this article really makes me laugh and angry at the same time.
the part that made me the maddest was when the father said he "conquered" the habit, lying bastard!

I wonder what the incidence of prostrate cancer is in the congregations as it is actually important for men to ejaculate often to avoid this. Another example of how sex is obviously NORMAL, NATURAL, AND HEALTHY. Who can argue with that?

homosexuals and JWs
by solidergirl ini have no problem being around gay people.
but bring it up a car group and omg its like the number 1 sin in the world.

I have seen so much heartache in people trying to overcome their true feelings: marriages taped together, people in their 30s and 40s I knew were gay who had resigned themselves to living single, and others who felt the weight of this enormous sin--a sin your own mom would rather see you dead than accept. The definition of sin is denying ourselves or others the right to thrive. Those I knew who denied this very basic, powerful force within themselves and stayed in the congregation were exceptionally homophobic or made sure everybody else was denying their deepest desires too, right before their circumstances changed dramatically. The WT wants them to feel this is the worst sin ever, and it eats alive anybody who either thinks this way or acts on it. Sexuality is the number one element of control within mind-controlling cults.

WTBCS thinks single men must be perverts?
by hamsterbait inin the aid book, under "marriage" it says that marriage was the normal condition for jewish men.
singleness "required explanation" (no supporting scripture).
now in the new october asleep!

It is important for the WT to entrap people as tightly as possible as soon as they show an interest, and many times that includes getting the newly baptised married ASAP. With marriage there is a reponsibility to 1. God 2. Your "mate" and 3. any children that may show up, making it less likely to leave. It is assumed if you are married you are all taken care of sexually and are "normal", so any perversions would be impossible. I really believed this when I was in, but I felt sorry for those in their 30s and 40s still single and feeling left out socially.

On the way back from the grocery store....afternoon chuckle!!
by sweetstuff inwe went shopping this afternoon, my two little girls and i, on the way home, they were both excitedly talking about halloween.
my youngest, who is seven, lets out this comment that nearly had me veering off the road with laughter.
she said, "i know what i want to be for halloween already, a jehovah's witness" well, i started to laugh right away, my eldest girl asked her why, she says, "they knock on people's door all the time and they are really scary".

I don't think you will have to be afraid of offending anybody. People will love it! I would give the kid an extra handfull that's for sure.

Questions about the rules of marriage
by Agnes ini have a couple of questions for you.
1. can a witness (in good standing) remarry if his or her spouse (also in good standing) dies ?
2. can a witness who is married to a non-witness, divorce and re-marry, if he/she for example is an abusive alcoholic?

My husband had left me after 17 years and was gone 2 years before I finally filed for divorce. I was legally responsible for anything that would happen to him, so to me it was logical to divorce. Just having a friend in the world who was a man, not having a sexual relationship with him, was enough for the axe to fall. I believe I was DFed on the breaking of the principle of one flesh, even tho nothing happened and, believe it or not, the subject regarding sex never even came up. Too bizarre.

Spouses of JW's who attend meetings but never get baptized
by Bonnie_Clyde ini know one who has attended meetings for 42 years, he knows it's a bunch of crap, but he loves his wife and doesn't want to mess up their relationship.
he is actually quite wealthy--maybe that makes a difference.
he doesn't have to worry about how to pay the bills.

I have often wondered if I would have the capacity to go to meetings just to please my husband. I think I would stay home and stay as far away as possible from the "friends" to avoid any unnecessary conflicts. I have known two men who have gone to meetings because their wives and children believed--for 30 years or more, but I have never seen a wife of a believer do this.
