this is a snapshot of activities i am personally aware of during the 1970s relative to the wtss neo-babylonian chronology.
it is not a discussion about the inaccuracy of their chronology.. .
i joined the seventh-day adventist church in 1964. later in the 1960s, we were regularly visited at the door by jehovah's witnesses.
thanks for the downloads, looks like it well be an interesting read.

Jehovah's witnesses don't go to war and kill other witnesses, they are too busy raping helpless elderly women. if only the whole world was like the witnesses, it would be a better place

growing up in the troof, my mom used to tell me that no one else in the universe had the name jehovah.
i remember her even recounting an experience where a catholic couple wanted to name/baptize their son jehovah and the priest counselled against it.
now i see all sorts of people with the name jehovah, on facebook, in the news and even in other languagues (the portuguese version jeova).

I see Jehobah is going to have to share his witnesses!

well, here's my latest "thing"...i plan on speaking with my siblings & their mates in the near future.
i have told them that i have questions regarding some doctrines, mainly stuff like birthdays, mother's day, father's day, etc.
my hubby has some questions for them regarding their wacky blood doctrine (but i wont cover that in this thread).
would this work? I like the last two sentences....
The
Concernof Christians Awake 2000 Jan8
When a Christian must decide whether or not to follow a certain custom, his main concern should be, What is God’s viewpoint as expressed in the Bible? In the past God condemned certain practices that may have been tolerated in some communities. These included child sacrifice, the misuse of blood, and various sexual practices. (Leviticus 17:13, 14; 18:1-30; Deuteronomy 18:10) Likewise, certain customs that are common today are clearly not in harmony with Bible principles. Among these are non-Biblical traditions connected with religious holidays such as Christmas and Easter or with superstitious practices related to spiritism.
But what about customs that may once have been linked to questionable practices but that today are primarily viewed as social etiquette? For example, many popular wedding customs—including the exchanging of rings and the eating of cake—may have pagan origins. Does this mean that Christians are forbidden to observe such customs? Are Christians required to scrutinize meticulously each custom of the community to see whether somewhere or at some time it had negative connotations?
Paul points out that “where the spirit of Jehovah is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17; James 1:25) God wants us to use this freedom, not as an inducement for selfish cravings, but to train our perceptive powers to distinguish right from wrong. (Galatians 5:13; Hebrews 5:14; 1 Peter 2:16) Hence, in a matter where there is no clear violation of Bible principles, Jehovah’s Witnesses do not create a hard-and-fast rule. Instead, each Christian must weigh the circumstances at hand and make a personal decision.
hat tipping and rising when a woman leaves the table or enters a room......wt52 april 15 qfr.
i dare say satan's ways are as mysterious as god's.
(i now have to wonder if letting a woman on or off the elevator first is part of satan's schemes).
lol
the article should have included that pic, then it might be taken more seriously

"To refrain from tipping the hat to a woman does not mean one disrespects her. Frequently it is the ones who are excessively courteous and gallant to women who show the least respect for womanhood. They use these flattering gestures and forms of outward courtesy hypocritically, as an opening wedge for improper advances that ultimately show disrespect and lead to misuse of women. It is not good to flatter people, to turn their head; it is to their harm. Specifically, why would a woman want this special show of respect from a man? One woman said in response to this question: “You don’t know how important it makes a woman feel to have a man tip his hat to her.” That is sufficient reason for Christians to refrain from the custom. It is not in the interests of the individual to make him feel important, whether the individual is male or female.
Some might argue that the friendly nod of the head came from the practice of bowing—but the nod is given regardless of sex, by both men and women. It does not exalt the woman. If hat-tipping were done by both men and women to each other, as mutual greeting and show of respect for each other, at least it would not be exalting one above the other. When a customary show of respect is performed between men as well as between man and woman, when it does not set the woman apart for special honor because of her sex, then it does not seem Scripturally objectionable. Hat removal would be too inconvenient for the woman? Then why is it the man that is supposed to rise when a woman enters a room or comes to or leaves the table, and never the woman? Is it too inconvenient again? Is she pinned to the chair, as the hat is pinned to her head? What custom does exist whereby women show respect to men? The absence of any is not just by chance, but is by satanic design to untheocratically elevate the woman above the man. In many ways Satan has taken the woman from the position assigned her by God, taken her from the home and its duties and put her into politics and commerce and religious leadership, and thereby caused much of the modern breakdown on the family front.—Heb. 13:4; Rev. 2:20.
in the last year the watchtower's public relations department is being inundated with inquiries concerning jehovah's witnesses and their bizarre behaviour.
the recent murder and cannabalism of a three week old baby is the latest in a series of ongoing horrific news articles linking jehovah's witnesses to acts of violent crimes.
http://www.seattlepi.com/national/408515_baby28.html?source=mypi what is causing these problems?
of course there is no relation between having a mental illness and being a JW, what gets me is the "Jehovah's happy people" song and dance the JWs like to do. like god watches over them especially and specifically.
when all is good and well, jehovah is watching over, when shit hits the fan they like to throw around the "unforseen circumstances befall everyone" bible verse, they are always speaking out of both corners of their mouths

even if Job's children were not celebrating their birthdays per se, they still were celebrating their own "day" a day dedicated to celebrate them. The watchtower would have you believe there is a distinction. So if i don't celebrate me on my "birth day" in October, but if I celebrate me on my own day say in May, then that's okay.
well good because my kids birthdays usually hit during the week, and we usually celebrate "their" day on a Saturday. Problem solved, now Jehobah can't smite me.

not sure if anyone else has heard, but here in the portuguese district that covers southern ontario and montreal had their convention cut from 3 days to 2 days.
when it was announced they told the congregation that they would be getting the same program in 2 days......but weeks later they were told that they could not take part in the invitation campaign because the theme of the public talk was printed on the flyer and they were not having a public talk.
does anyone know the reason why they would do this to just this one group?
The only good thing that came out of eliminating the Portuguese congregations was that I met my husband. Even though he is portuguese, he would have attended an english congregation.
I never understood that BS, I asked my mom a couple of times, but what did she know. They don't tell the dubs shit. The rumour I heard was that the Circuit Overseer at the time had made that decision, though that seems unlikely.
I guess the Portuguese are the ginea pigs of the watchtower, the Portuguese are a bunch of pushovers for sure. But this particular change is a bonus, I know I would be secretly delighted, only 2 days and I can still make jehoba happy.
The portuguese congregations in Toronto are mostly old folk, I never went back to the portuguese, nor did my sister or the other younger people we knew. Maybe the portuguese congos will fade in time.
One thing that ticked me no end was that my mom spent 2 decades in canada and never bothered to learn a word of english. With 3 kids she could not help with homework or search for resources for whatever we may have needed. But have the GB tell her to go to the english congo and she starts studying english night and day. Still today even though she belongs to the portuguese she always studies the watchtower in both languages.

That's right, i thought that was odd
my sister goes to an english hall and had a 3 day convention last weekend, and my mom goes to a portuguese hall and her convention this week-end was only 2 days - what's up with that?
of course I took the opportunity to tell my mom how everything from meetings to magazines to now even conventions now are being cut-back
