i came across this web site awhile back and i thought it had some thought provoking information.

it is obviously written by a group of atheists.

who wanted to bring to light what all christian faiths base their religious beliefs on and probablly why some devout christians eventually turn to atheism.. if you read their analysis of what the bible says with an open mind it can be very thought provoking material.. after reading most of the sub topics they have listed, i found most of the reading to be both mind expanding and humorous for a lot of it, your mileage may vary.

I feel that even though we do not have the originals, it would not matter.

Try reading shakespeare in the original english. What you will find is the spelling is no where near the same as it is in modern english.

The same is true for the Bible. As long as the thoughts are the same, the originals are not required

religion is following orders by implicitly trusting someone or something.. science asks questions.. religion purports to answer questions.. science seeks to disprove its own conclusions.. religion seeks to reinforce its own dogma.. science is error-correction toward adjusting for realities as they unfold.. religion internalizes against reality by mocking up a substitute.. science is the most recent development of the human mind.

technology proves science to be successful in advancing human progress.. religion disdains human progress and waits for the end.

Did you know the native Americans (Indians) who lived in Los Angeles before the white man arrived called the area Smoke Valley because of the smog??

Irrelivent because it was not GLOBAL. The planet has the ability to heal pollution on a minor scale. Technology does this on a MAJOR scale. Suggestion read some current modern magazines on global warming and gas emmissions.

Did you know that America (the Christian nation) is the only country on earth to have used atomic weapons on humans? (Hiroshima and Nagasaki). Did you know the bombs were not dropped on the selected targets, but, on secondary sites as a default?

-I find that funny considering that congress (who approved the atom bombes use) were not all Christian. Suggestion, read some history. The United States, with assistance from the United Kingdom and Canada, designed and built the first atomic bombs under what was called the Manhattan Project. The project was initially started at the instigation of European refugee scientists (including Albert Einstein). I thought you said there was only ONE country involved.

Did you know Global Warming has happened periodically all through Earth's history and BEFORE any man or technology could be blamed for it?

-Theory unless you were there there is now way to prove it.

Of course you didn't or you wouldn't post such statements.

I am not the one stating things without checking my facts.

Science vs. Religion - Must We Choose Between Them?

i dare to say science and religion are two different animals.

they may try to explain similar things but in different ways.

i don't believe man will ever live without either religion or science nor would i want us too.

Thank you for the welcome.

As regards to scientists accepting evolution or not is not important as that was not exactly my point. The point is that they are still arguing over HOW it even occured. I find that strange considering that they have discovered this 'fact' over two centuries ago, there is still no proof as to how it happened.

What I find interesting is that scientist put an awful lot of faith in something that has never been proven.

For example evolution has been likened to gravity as a fact that cannot be questioned. Well gravity can be proven experimentally (all you have to do is drop a ball onto the ground and you prove gravity.) Yet there has never been an experiment that has been able to prove that living things come from non living matter. There has never been an example of transgender species that did not resort back to its original form in within a couple of generations. (The experiment with mutated fruit flies would be a good example.)

Science is suppose to be the search for facts and yet with evolution, I see a lot of taking things on 'faith'.

Actually mavie dating ice is really not valid as it cannot consider environmental changes (such as global warming, nuclear tests, etc) In fact much of the dating used by scientists is not beyond questioning.

Take for example radiocarbon dating, it does not go beyond 50,000 years (that is assuming you can actualy say that there were no enviromental changes for the last 50,000 years.) As regards to the Bible, I find most people who say that the Bible is myth never have actually taken the time to read other than a surface glancing. Saying something is myth when one was not there to see the events is arrogant. That would be like me saying all scientists are wrong because I say they are. It would be irresponsible for any to say one's beliefs are based off myth if we were not there. Science like all things is subject to change over time.

The point is that simply put, neither you or I know what happened and it would be best not to assume something is wrong just because we don't agree with it.

The end in Mt 24:14 is referring to the end of the Jewish age and the temple (not system of things as in the NWT) Christ was not talking about the end of the world. His comming is different than his presence.
