Fifteen years I would've defended the Organization. It's what I was trained to do. It's the only thing I knew to do.

Cognitive Dissonance Can Be A Good Thing!
by DT inmany of us have been disheartened by all the comments about the candace conti case from apologists that indicate cognitive dissonance at work.
some of them even seem to show a shocking lack of empathy.. this might be seen as evidence that even the most shocking revelations will have little or no effect on faithful witnesses.. i disagree.
i think this case is having a profound effect.. i think many witnesses have been under the impression that this kind of judgement is impossible.

The light keeps diminishing
by Slidin Fast intoday's wt says it all.
read this, it accurately portrays the last 50 years of fading light from the saddest bunch of con-men in history.. 15 to answer, imagine that you are reading a book by the light of a 100-watt bulb, but then the bulb fails.
since you are left in the dark, you immedi- ately notice what happened and replace the burned-out bulb with a new one.

the influences of Satan’s world may cause our zeal to diminish little by little. If that happens, it is as if Satan succeeded in reducing 100-watt heartfelt zeal for Jehovah’s service to something less. If not alert, a Christian may not even notice the gradual change.
What they're really saying:
We're saying "jump" and some of you aren't jumping. This worries us cause we're losing our power even if it's ever so slowly. We're going to try to scare you back into our grip by telling you if you're not doing exactly what we say and how we say, Satan's gonna get you! -

For now...all hope has faded
by outsmartthesystem inmy wife asked me if i believe that christ came to power in 1914. sadly this question shows how little she knows even about her own religion as she knows the heart of my problems with the society start with the 607 bc debacle.
obviously no 607 means no 1914. alas....the conversation eventually morphed and it got to the point where i decided to ask her a point blank question.
what would it take to get you to realize that your religion is false?

Dont give up hope Outsmartthesystem. Maybe you can switch gears and try to focus on fostering her personality and her self esteem. What type of things does she like to do? What does she enjoy? Does she have any hobbies or expressed interested in a certain subject, sport or activity? How is her health? How is her emotional health?
The better she feels about herself and the stronger her self-indentity the less she needs to rely on the group identity.

From a currently serving elder: an open letter to the organization
by elderelite inthere are 1000's who who hate this religion who are stuck ....inside it.
we work against you, we use our position to convince and sway those that still drink your koolaid.
we feed info to authorities who chase you, we warn off potiential converts by directing them to the real truth.

Elderelite, I suspect you and others like who are still on the inside are more of a threat to the Watchtower than those of us on the outside.
While I was still in I had an elder once tell me that I should not feel guilty about providing for my family. If an "apostate" had said it, I would have dismissed it. Because and elder said it, I actually thought about it. It made me realize I was working way too much for the Watchtower and not enough for my family.

CAN EVERYONE DO ME A FAVOUR?
by Mary ini haven't been on here much lately, but i read barb anderson's report on the court case in california the other day.
nice to see the borg finally getting what they deserve.. anyway, the daily mail has done a story about it and at the end you can give your comments.
i think there are a number of 'faithful witlesses' on there who are giving the "thumbs down" to any negative comments about the borg, including mine.

It took me a long time to write this...i'm staying.
by MsGrowingGirl20 init took me a long time to write this....i'm being brutally honest...i am still a reg pioneer...three sundays ago,i was praying and asking god for a sign or something because i was so confused...i told him exactly what i needed to see for me to believe.i was feeling terrible--crying and feeling sick because i was so confused.ten minutes after, i walked into the kingdom hall and to my surprise--my prayer was answered!
i soooo wasn't expecting it, even though i prayed.
so this is where almighty god wants me to be,ii've reasoned.

What would you do if you weren't afraid of dying at Armageddon? What would you do if you didn't feel guilty of displeasing God?

It's a mistake to lump ALL witnesses in one bucket. I agree with breakfast of champions. The extremists will love it and will praise Jah. The majority won't care all that much. And some will awake to the fact that the organization has very little to do with God and a lot to do with control.

Planning an Escape: Truth Triumphs Over Lies!
by 00DAD inoften during wt/book studies and/or public talks i would be following along and note little discrepancies and inconsistencies.
perhaps it was a scripture that didn't really support the point being asserted in the paragraph or maybe it was an illustration that sounded good but wasn't completely parallel or maybe it was a line of reasoning that wasn't as conclusive or solid as the speaker/elder/co/wt publication made it out to be.
or maybe it was the excessive use of weasel words like, "evidently," "perhaps," "must have" and so on.

Thanks for your story 00Dad. Sorry to hear about your son.
Those in thrall to this poison are hard to reach but nothing is impossible.
I agree.

Could the JWs fit the defintion of Fascism?
by Aussie Oz infascism ( /'f?
?z?m/) is a radicalauthoritariannationalist political ideology.
[1][2] fascists seek rejuvenation of their nation based on commitment to an organic national community where its individuals are united together as one people in national identity by suprapersonal connections of ancestry, culture, and blood through a totalitariansingle-party state that seeks the mass mobilization of a nation through discipline, indoctrination, physical education, and eugenics.
